Sorry, but it's really hard to know after all the silly things that are genuinely posted about LSU baseball.
I bet someone read that and agreed with you.

I'm not hating on Ross by any means. I meant we proved we have mad options now.

Maineri has to be in one of the most enviable spots in all of college baseball right now. He can pick his starter for game 1. Even if his starting pitcher gives up a few runs (and I don't think that they will), his offense should score plenty against the Jags. I think he can save Coleman and Ranaudo, and even with a loss, 95% of the fan base and 100% of the administration (his bosses) would agree.

1: Byrd
2: Cain
3: Bradshaw
Relief: Chad Jones, Haydel, Bat Girl #3
Send Ranaudo and Coleman to Panama City for the weekend. Relaaaaax.

I would start Byrd or Cain.

Ranaudo is great, but Coleman is our go-to guy
I would still go with Ranaudo first for the same reasons that Drysdale always got the start over Koufax........Same dynamics.

Agreed, I was just pointing out that even with a horrendous collapse by LSU in this game, Paul Maineri would not be questioned for saving his two best pitchers.

There was a reason that they started Ross in the opener of the SEC tourney: he was setting his rotation for the Regional. My guess at what he would do, based on the opponenet, the situation, and the amount of rest that these guys have had:
Regional: Ross, Coleman, Renaudo
Super Regional: Coleman, Renaudo, Ross
CWS: Coleman, Renaudo, Ross, TBA (Bradshaw, Cain, Byrd).
Because they pitched early last week in the SEC tourney, all three starters will have their full-week's rest, so the time to flip Coleman and Renaudo is now.

Could it be that it was because Ross had only pitched 2 innings and thrown 32 pitches, against Miss St. prior to the rain delay.

they will probably not need more than 3 starters if they make it to the CWS, with a day off in between games, even in the losers bracket, you wouldn't play more than once a day.

Ross wasn't the reason we lost to vandy, it was the hitting.

Bradshaw has not had enough rest to start Friday. The reason he did not pitch more this season is arm problems. He's a tough kid and battling through it. If you recall, early in his carreer, Coleman had arm problems as well. As these kids age, their arms (if properly cared for) get stronger - Bradshaw is just a soph. If Bradshaw pitches, he'll start game 3 or 4 on Sunday (depending on how we use Coleman - see below).
Ross is rested and will likely start Friday.
There's a possibility that PM will use Coleman like he did last year - long relief. The way Cain, Byrd and Bradshaw pitched in the tourny might sway PM's thinking. Coleman coming out of the pen able to throw multiple innings in multiple games is a huge advantage. Matty is good, but at best 1-2 innings max and as PM has said, he doesn't like to throw Ott in back to back games.

Coleman has experience out of the pen, and Ranaudo doesn't.
Who pitched the final inning in game 3 of the super last season?

Ross v. Southern
Coleman in game two. It is the most important game of the regional, as it sets you up for having to be beaten twice. I put that in the hands of my best.
Renaudo, hopefully to close it out, in game three.
As far as the Supers, I think it's a coin toss about game 1. It's very important, imo, for momentum purposes to win it. Also the logic is the same as above; if you win it the other team has to beat you twice. On the other hand, if you happen to lose game 1 of the Supers, you definitely want your best to pick you up in game two. Those are my two schools of thought. I don't know what PM's is.

Pitching with a 14 run lead is not exactly gaining big experience out of the pen. If I'm not mistaken, he doesn't have a single inning out of the pen this year. Coleman, on the other hand, was still closing games as late as the UGA series this year.

Ross will be on a short leash.
Against Southern? No way.
I would throw Bradshaw or Matulis against Southern and save Ross in case you need him for a potential rubber match against the #2 or #3.

Sooooo... you're saying that either Coleman or Ranaudo is going to lose a game? Thats preposterous.
