Just stop reading The Rant. It's ok to give yourself permission to tune out the negativity and rantardary if it bothers you that much
I understand there are dumbasses who never seem to be happy and we do feel entitled (which IMO isn't a bad thing), but damn, just turn the knob to a different station. Start your own board and do nothing but hold LSU pep rallies every day.
I swear, all you old farts coming out of the woodwork with these open letters full of self righteousness are just as bad as people who bitch when we win 63-14.
PS. I wish all of you would stop with the tl;dr shite. You're not nearly as cool and edgy as you think you are. In fact, you are douchebags.

Old Farts? Dude had his childhood in 60's which could mean about 45ish (or a bit older). Is that considered an old fart these days? Sure hope not!

His name says he was in the dorms in 72. That makes him close to 60 at least.
He also sounds like a bunch of other folks who have already spewed out this same stuff for the past few weeks.

I just think it's hillarious that their whole premise is based on the assumption that everybody else is miserable and angry, yet the accusers continue to post as though their face is flushed, blood pressure boiling, and spit is flying out their mouth. That's the way I read what they write.
Yet, the rest of us are the ones who are "miserable" and "angry"...

Apparently some guy was lucky enough to get a ticket the biggest game for the tigers so far this year. And somehow that makes him a better fan than the other 92,000 who were rocking tiger stadium saturday night.
I don't see where he says that he is/was a "better fan". He said that he was a part of something special. He thanked everyone else in the stadium for being there and supporting the team. Why don't you get that?
If I wasn't using my UA tickets, I'd gladly sell him one of mine. If I sell my tickets, I like to know that I'm selling them to someone who will make some noise during the game. That's what makes a difference on 3rd and long for the opposing team.

My issue lies with in the subject line.
Apparently placing crap above attending an lsu football game makes you a negatard.

OP: I am in a similar situation as you but I have a bit of a different take.
For one, I think that in this era, a big time college football team needs the corporate and big money guys to buy tickets and otherwise contribute in order to compete. It is not surprising that these types are a little less, shall we say, "fanatic" in supporting the team when they do go to the games than those of us for whom a live game is a non regular event.
I am grateful that it turned out the way it did. It was magic. Cheap tickets. Great weather and atmosphere all day. Great vibe in the stadium. All in all, it couldn't have worked out much better for people like you and me. And for the team.
As for the negative people on TD, I've learned to love it. It is just a given of internet message boards, especially ones moderated with restraint such as this one (which is an excellent way to moderate IMO) that these types will flourish. Hell, these same guys or guys like them will argue just as viciously over things like mitachlorian counts in Star Wars or whether a character in the Lord of the Rings movies was true to the book. I've learned to love the entertainment they bring. And I think in some cases it's a good outlet for them to be able to practice their communication skills in an anonymous non threatening format.
It will be interesting to see how many choose to hang on to their tickets for the Bama game and how this affects the atmosphere, especially if things don't go great early in the game.

Jesus .. is there a cliff notes version of that somewhere ?
I have a big ego, and wanted to show the board my uber intelligence with a long post, so I bragged about my fandom and how much better I am than other fans.
That's about it in a nutshell.

This. I go to a game like Saturday night's and the last thing I think about is coming to tell y'all how great it was in some mythical days of yore instead.
I've been going to games since the 70s, the crowd never fails to step up for a big game, and now is no different than then (except the traffic sucks much worse) no matter how much you want to reminisce about some non-existent glory days.
It's a sad mindset.

I'm guessing you're pegging me as a conservative old fart who doesn't approve of the student section's "creative lyrics"? Dead wrong- think it's hilarious. ready to sign the "bring back the Neck" petition. O-WE- OH- you suck!

No, not it at all. Sitting at home to type insightful brilliance like "this team sucks" and "how pathetic", "this is embarrassing" etc. the whole game over and over makes you a Negatard. Apparently you mad b/c you had something else to do that day; not my fault.

Great post, would read again. I also agree 100%.

All the immature postings keep many of us away from the board at times. It's just like the idiot fans that go way to far at harassing visiting fans, they are vocal and few but seem to be in everyone's face at times. It gets tiresome. Thanks for the good thread!
