How'd that 3rd down conversion rate look against a freshman making his first career start in the bowl game?

The biggest issue was that the defense wasn't creating turnovers or getting many sacks/tfls

Did Bama even get to 3rd down when they were driving late?

Chassis's biggest problem was not so much 3rd downs it was when he would go from his normal defense, where he would trust his Cbs to go man, and bring pressure. to his soft zone with 3 downlinemen and dropped everyone in to a zone coverage.

It is why we would get eaten apart in a 2 minute drill.

Except when game after game was on the line late, you could always count on 3rd and Chavis to strike.

Stats are for losers of Music City Bowls, and this one's about as misleading as they get.

I know this is hard for you to believe, but not every school takes 3 years to develop a qb that's capable of completing more than 50% of his passes. Mind boggling, I know...

and not every school shits their pants with a 1 score lead in the last 2 minutes either.

Show me one D coordinator who has never had his defense lose a lead. Because apparently that's what the rantards are looking for in a new DC.

Yea, aggies posted that same link about 5 days ago.

Stats are great for proving any point of view.

Did anyone takeout our cupcake games?

What did big plays do (10+ yards gains)? Who cares of you held them 10 for 14 on 3rd down when you are losing 0-28.

After Miss St and Auburn went up big, they started to pull first team. Every team does that with a big lead. Much easier to stop the 2nd team.

And so on. Critical take aways:

- our defense was exposed to a running QB continuously. There was no reason ND should have held the ball and run the ball like they did. None

- there were issues with 3rd and longs in critical games. Chavis was known for it at Tenn and it happen here.

- this year, our offense was horrible. However, what about 2013? Our offense was about as good as it could get, yet the defense lacked experience and it showed. Chavis didn't have any problems when he was the issue.

You keep telling yourself we were good, while I watched Ole Miss, Bama, and ND march down the field at the end, and at least two of them FTW. That was AFTER our defense got an upgrade.

Show me a good one who has done it as frequently as Chavis has?

I always thought 3rd and Chavis wasn't so much his issue at LSU as much as "2 minute Chavis" was.

the 3rd and Chavis UT complaints were about him playing his CBs off, he was a lot more aggressive with LSU's.

Remember, those stats are for the season...and we played/beat up some real weak non-conference teams.

Except in the months of November & December we gave up 33 of 65 3rd down conversion attempts.

Not too mention we were 102nd in the nation in sacks this year.

Chavis was a great DC for us but he absolutely had his faults.

I always thought 3rd and chavis was more of a "3rd and 17", 3rd and very unlikely kind of situation. It sure seemed like it this season. Miss state converted a few huge 3rd down situations for tds that really changed the game and I remember Bama putting together a td drive after Yeldon converted a 3rd and humongous on a draw play.

Show me statistics that show one has done it less than Chavis has.
