Can someone please explain why WR production was so poor this year compared to 2020 and 2021?
Since it certainly couldn’t possibly be the QB position, is it that Jake Peetz a that much of a better coordinator than Denbrock?

RB playing QB, that could not read defenses, throw down field, or make decisions.

Because it wasn't really. Also the RBs were much more involved this year than 2020 and 2021. And the TE (not counting WR/TE Beach) was non-existent in the 2021 offense

eta: At least in terms of catches and yards. Receiving touchdowns are way down and replaced by Daniels rushing TDs.

JD5 is not as good at QB as some posters want to admit

He threw for 80 yards in a full football game TWICE this year

Couldn’t be QB; we can eliminate QB; don’t even think it was the run first QB

Well, maybe that forthcoming quarterback competition will result in curing that poor WR production.

Went 2-0 on those games.

And marched up and down the field on Nick Saban’s defense.

Two Good indeed!

Probably because the 2022 team ran for 1,000 more yards and 24 more tds. That’ll happen when you have a balanced offense and aren’t throwing the ball 50 times a game

Do you have any idea how many of those rushing yards were broken pass play scrambles? Is that what you want the 2023 offense to be. One running play, one 6 yd hitch pass play and JD scrambling because he can't find a receiver WIDE open? That was our offense, and starting with Arky, then A&M and then Ga, we couldn't score. They figured out how to beat JD and they will do so again next year, because he ain't changing, and the coaches play options are severely limited. 8 wins next year max. Enjoy

One of the following happened 1/5 of the time:
Daniels or RB gets sacked
Daniels runs for a gain
Throw is off
Throw hits player in the hands and is incomplete
Complete Pass

2022 LSU 13 games 3,401 passing yards 262 yards passing per game

Nabers 854 yards 2TD
Boutte 538 yards 2TD
Jenkins 404 yards 6TD
Thomas 330 yards 4TD
Lacy 211 yards
Bech 200 yards 1TD
Hilton 109 yards

2021 LSU 13 games 3,308 passing yards 255 yards passing per game

Boutte 509 yards 9TD
Jenkins 502 yards 6TD
Bech 489 3TD
Nabers 417 4TD
Thomas 359 2TD
Palmer 344 3TD
Smith 186 2TD
Lee 85 1TD
Hilton 81 1TD
Moore 71
Kirklin 49

2022 WRs 2,646 yards 15TD

2021 WRs 3,092 yards 31TD

So LSU threw the ball more efficiently in 2022 than 2021 and added in some yardage to the TE and running backs. They also ran the ball more effectively going from just 9 rushing touchdowns up to 35 in 2022.

How is this possible with an immobile white QB in 2021?

Daniels can’t read defenses
Daniels can’t see the field
Daniels wants to run the ball himself

Look, I know you want to shite on Daniels and blame him for Boutte leaving but Boutte knew Daniels would be back. 2021 vs 2022-Qbs are within 100 yards of each in passing. Daniels is 8% higher in completion %. Both had 7.5 ypc. Max had -47 rushing yards and Daniels had 880.

I’m not a huge Daniels proponent but he puts us in a position to win games.

No one has said he is a great QB. Not a single person.

We just aren’t convinced we have anyone better currently on the roster and that JD is at least good enough to win us a lot of games until we can rebuild and get an actual
QB.
