The TE caught and then fumbled the ball. There is no question about that call. The others are 50/50 calls, so I can’t fault those. The catch and fumble, however , was a horrible call. To me, the worst part about the kneel/interception is that the clocked stopped and 5 minutes spent reviewing the call. It gave A and M a ton of momentum and an opportunity to think through their next play call. If the kneel is called in the field the clock runs and they are under time and defensive pressure to get a play called and executed in 4th down. You can’t account for the difference this made at the end.

That’s a pretty dumb take considering there were several calls on that last drive that could have been called either way. There was also a catch / fumble overturned call in the first ot maybe that also was close.

The knee down was the correct call

I agree this was the correct call within the parameters of the rule as written. However, I definitely have an issue with this rule. Mond clearly did not have possession of the ball when his knee was down; so I don’t get how a ball carrier going to the ground that loses possession just prior to their knee or body touching the ground is a fumble and not ruled down, but Mond just by placing a finger on the ball when knee is down is considered down. Just like any situation, he should have to have possession, and in the review there was no way you could conclusively show that he had possession (not just touching) of the ball when his knee was down. Rule needs to be changed.

I also agree that it was bs they got extra time by virtue of clock being stopped due to boneheaded calls.

I don't blame that play for the loss. there were a number of game losing plays. however, I think we had a problem with red zone td scoring. it was better than the previous year but we have to improve that. if we do, maybe our coaches will have the confidence to call the td play vs the fg

Hindsight is always 20/20. If we had opted to throw and thrown an interception, we’d say they should’ve ran it and played for the FG.

And only 3 fouls on the Aggies for the whole game is ridiculous. Refs swallowed their whistles for the Aggies.

I agree. The head coach's mentality on offense cost us. I hope he learned his lesson.

Thanks for the heads up.

I was just pissed we used the HB pass play the next possession to tie instead of the previous possession to win! That was the big f’up imo.

That being said, there could have been a defensive alignment that prevented the HB pass on the previous possession. That was my only conclusion as to why they didn’t use it.

Hell even Steve Shaw, the head of officials said the Greedy pi was questionable. This is someone that I expect to cover the refs back as much as possible.

LSU should have stopped A&M on the last drive. Period.

Very similar to decision a decision late vs ND in bowl game prior

this one was on the one inch line. and there was no downside to taking the risk, no titles on the line other than the bowl game itself...and LSU lost anyway even though the field goal was made, there was no reason to be conservative in that instance

this was a turrible call

That's bullsh*t. Late in games offenses have an even greater advantage than usual. Their offense was offensive. It was too much for our defense, which again, is typical late in games. Our head coach's mentality was to be passive with our offense. You cannot do that.

100% agree with this puzzling call. What made it even more questionable, after we tied it and went to the 5th OT and had the ball first, we broke out the halfback pass for a TD from similar field position. You run that play in the 4th OT with the same result and game over...

Easily the worst play calling sequence of the year in that over time

I’ve said this before. The league engineered a win for the Ags not to screw us but to improve their bowl standing. The league already knew we were going to Peach or Fiesta.
