The offense should have run through Naz. We had their 3rd string forward in the game. Should have pounded it into Naz, or attacked the goal. We had the advantage

Had a lead 1 point lead, with a full shot clock, the ball, 2 timeouts, 3 Arkansas players fouled out. I would have taken that scenario 99 times out of 100. Horrendous last 30 seconds of basketball in every way imaginable.

The unnecessary 3 was bad, and I don’t know what to call the ally oop? Grind the shot clock down and get it to the 6-10 post

Exactly. Once we were down, we had 3 shots! 3 chances to win the game. Not one timeout called, to you know maybe draw up a play or something? Stupid 3 on the last sequence, Javonte rushes his shot and should have gone in to draw a foul, even Naz could have set his feet on the last shot. It was sporadic and I’m not sure why Wade didn’t call a timeout. Repeatedly could have done this. He saw how out of sorts we looked.

I don't disagree but Naz missed a shot at the rim with about 5 seconds left. . He could have won it right there

That's Wade's mo. Some coaches call a lot of timeouts. Wade let's it play oit on the court most of the time. Remember when you call a time to you know draw up a play, the other coach is you know doing the same thing

Yes I don’t understand why we didn’t do this. We had the advantage and he would have probably drawn contact and been able to go to the line and at least make it a 3 point game

TO would’ve been an easy way to convey that obvious point.

They did. Naz had it on the last play and couldnt finish, if I’m not mistaken.

Agreed, but Naz needs to work on hitting shots from underneath the basket that aren’t dunks. He’s not good at simple layups. If he was, LSU wins the game on his last shot.

Feel like Wade always lets them play in such a situation rather than calling a timeout. With such a young team I wonder why

because teams practice end of game situations and don’t always need a timeout.

Besides, a timeout allows the defense the chance to regroup too. i’ve always had the opinion that you play on, and don’t let the defense reset or allow the opponent to substitute.

And do remember that we had a layup to win, but Naz couldn’t convert.

And we did the last set and Naz got right to the goal, I'm sure he'll tell you he should have scored there.

100% agree. As frantic as the last sequence looked, we had 2 good shots that didnt go down. Can't blame Naz for grabbing the ball, turning and firing just to make sure he got it off. Was a chaotic scene.

This was the point I was making in one of those "we needed a loss" threads. Though not necessarily that the offense should have run through Naz, specifically. I just thought it was obvious that they should have been attacking the rim after Gafford fouled out.

Instead they take a quick three, and then try an alley oop. I don't know what the players were thinking, and I have no idea why Will Wade didn't call a timeout to make sure the team understood what the plan of attack should be from that point forward. Disappointing.

I'm not in the "we needed this" crowd, but I do hope they learned something from this.

It always seems kind of frantic when Naz gets the ball and has to dribble a couple of times, but the way he played last night he'd earned that opportunity and it worked, he got right to the rim. And his shot was uncontested at the rim really he was just a bit off balance because he still has not quite yet gotten comfortable in drives to the hoop at this level and his finish was a bit awkward.

That's always been my opinion, I think you give the defense a chance to situationally sub, match up and strategize when you call the TO as an offense there.

I heard Dan Dockich speak to this one time, one of the coaches of another team was teasing him about all the timeouts basketball coaches take. "Don't you guys practice".

Hell man you get 4 t.v. timouts a half.

I'm sure we practice end of game situations all the time as do all teams. Tre thought he saw something and made a bad decision, and a bad pass. The last set we had to very good looks and missed them. I think not calling a timeout was the least of the issues.
