2001: Auburn at LSU If you recall, and of course everyone remembers 9-11 itself , games scheduled for Sept 15 were moved to another time in the season. Auburn at LSU,and for that matter Tennessee at Florida, were moved to December 1st-- the day the SEC Title game was originally scheduled.
LSU had hit a dip midway in the year but after smoking Alabama the team hit its stride. Auburn was blown out at home two weeks later by the same Alabama team which prevented Auburn from winning the West.
Here are some highlights with 'iffy' footage. This game was basically over on the first drive . About the time the first drive ended, Tennessee survived Florida's comeback in Gainesville.
Great game.

Senior year at LSU. Last game in Tiger Stadium as a band member.
Still remember the game to this day.

Rohan caught fire, Auburn lost one, then Ole Miss went into a tail spin after losing to Arkansas in 7 OTs, which put us in a position to make it to Atlanta in what basically became a semifinal weekend.

Great game. Rushed the field as a student. Made the trip Atlanta too!

One dip was caused by Tenn’s Kelly Washington putting on a clinic against LSU in Neyland.
Ask me how I know. Kidding.
Would have been best live game I ever attended (tailgating was exceptional) but for the game.

Almost like we won the West for the first time or something.

I was at that game. Tennessee upset Florida to punch their ticket in the SEC CG, and the fans in the stands had energy thinking we had a legit shot to win the SEC after that.
The crowd was on one. I remember chants of "AUBURN SUCKS" happening very frequently and in unison especially when they stomped on the Tiger eye pre game or when that douche punter was practicing while the band was still doing their halftime show. Michael Clayton also killed a dude on a kickoff and the jumbotron kept replaying it over and over while the training staff was attending to the poor kid on the field, and the crowd kept going "OOOOOH" after every replay. One fan next to me said they should have stomped on his head like they did the eye before the game and I remember thinking that was a bit much
Was a night I'll never forget, my dad had taken me to many day games before (1997 Arkansas and 1998 Bama notably) but that was the first night game I ever attended and got the full Tiger Stadium at Night experience.

I moved from Baton Rouge that spring, and that was the only game I went to that year, so it was obviously my 1st time in Tiger Stadium since 9/11. And as it kicked off, I could not quit thinking “If they flew 2 jets into the trade centers and took out 3k, what kind of damage could they do if they flew just 1 right into the middle of this West upper?” Anybody else feel uneasy at a post-9/11 game that year?
Obviously, once the game got going I got into it and mostly forgot about it. But every now and then, it crept back in my mind. 21 years later—I can’t believe it’s been that long—it seems silly. But that was a wild time to be alive in America. Hell, in the world. Even wilder how quickly we basically forgot about it.

I had that same eerie feeling a month later at the Sugar Bowl in the Superdome. Considering the Super Bowl was going to be there a month later I had those dark thoughts for minute.
