They do a article like this every year when LSU isn't there. Atmosphere just isn't the same. We miss you too Omaha.

Many don't know this, but Omaha is really a small extension of South Louisiana. It started back in the early 1800s, and many descendants from this Louisiana man are alive and kicking in and around this Midwestern city.

Here are some links if you are curious about the history of the ties between Omaha and its Louisiana heritage:

I'll bet he didn't come late to practice, lose touch with his players or essentially turn his responsibilities and team over to assistant coaches.

Uhhh...maybe I missed the point of the article, but it seems that they miss the idea of an LSU.

Sure they give LSU and its fans props for being fun, but they then go onto discuss who could be the "next LSU".

I think we maybe reading to much into this article.

It still amazes me how PM let this even happen.

I went this year and wore LSU gear and had a dad point me out to his son and say, "That's why LSU is great." They were in full Nebraska colors. The majority of the people wearing LSU in Omaha were from Omaha. They wanted to attracted the LSU fans because we are "Fun"

New article today, not about LSU but about the stadium, which you might find interesting. My favorite part was:

"And for a lot of the old-timers, the new place will never quite have the same feel as our old stadium on the hill. How can it? We traded unique for generic. We had a chance to put Omaha's stamp on the new place.

Instead, we built an outdoor television studio for ESPN, complete with grass infield. We gave the NCAA the nondescript venue it wanted for its championship. At first glance, it's hard to tell if we're in Omaha or Boise.

We traded tradition and history for a couple of extra inches of leg room at our seats and a little more elbow room in the concourse."

I also wanted to say that yes, Omaha misses LSU. Yes, partly because you are fun. But mostly because your teams are good and your fans treat our city like a good guest should, with respect and courtesy. That is NOT true of all schools, I can attest to that. It is so easy to get behind LSU when we genuinely like you! Both of my daughters wear LSU shirts to the games, they are teenagers, I'm not dressing them that way. They chose to show that we miss you, as do so many other Nebraskans.

For years, we had the same regulars at the table here, and while you could say it was too much, the past 10 years have suddenly swung the other way. We've been introduced to Rice, Oregon State and Fresno State. But before we could get acquainted, they went away. Cinderella always rents, never buys.

HA! I love this last sentence!
