Pretty simple IMO

The facilities suck arse, stadium sucks arse and the athletic department will not commit to hiring top coaches and coordinators. Talent pool in MS blows and the good ones go to MS state, LSU and Bama

Ole Miss fans want to belive they got money and are elite on some type of level but the truth is they rank near the bottom in endowments and they can't dismantle their own good ol boy network long enough to move forward.

I mad

I fricking hate Ole Miss

The stigma related to the school Re: racism without question.

True there's racism everywhere, but there's a reason the stigma looms larger there than any other school for obvious reasons and they seemed to be much slower than their SEC brethren in taking the proper steps to erase the stigma.

And USM - USM has gotten the best in-state recruits the last 30 years due to lower admission standards and the best fan base of the 3.

Completely wrong.

The demise of the OM football program is the lack of progressive thinking from the athletic department. They failed to capitalize on the success of the 60's and 70's and did not have the foresight to move the program ahead, instead were content to sit on their asses while other schools easily passed them. Instead it became an Old Boy's Club full of croynism, entitlement, and laziness.

Sure things like small state, academic troubles, small town, MSU, small stadium etc are a factor, but not the crux of the problem. They are the results of a crappy athletic department.

1st- of all Ole Miss is one of the smallest schools in the SEC along with Vandy.

2nd- They have failed to land a great coach

3rd- The Rebel thing probablly hasn't hurt the program for in state talent as much as out of state talent. Nobody wants to leave florida or texas to come to an EVEN MORE racist place like like mississippi

The one guy who put the program at the national level also tore it down. Johnny Vault. After he retired, he kept on publicly armchair quarterbacking every coach who went in. He turned into a constant source of controversy. Not too many decent coaches want to walk into that. I don't think the racial thing is as big as folks make it out to be anymore.

We weren't great....but we weren't bad either back in the 90s and early 2000s. Then Pete Boone came in as AD in 2002 and just messed shite up all around. Didn't take care of his coaches. He played banker more than he did AD with the money we had.

With this new AD, he has shown he is willing to spend money to compete. Maybe in a couple years Ole Miss will be back to at least competing and going to bowls every year.

Ole miss isn't any more or less racist than any other school in the deep south.

Qualifying academically and talent raiders hurt more than anything.

Have you SEEN that broad? There had to be some Carrie-esque rigging going on for those results.

Actually she is a very popular student among her peers on campus. With all the extra curricular activities she is apart of, I'm not surprised that the students voted for her.

Man if you think the talent pool in Mississippi blows you don't know jack about high school football. They have problems but this (and a plethora if fine pussy on campus) isn't one of them

They had a decent program when Eli was there. Once he went to the NFL they had a little drop off, which was to be expected. They they got stupid, just like Nebraska did, (fired Frank Solich for going 9-3 the year after they played in the NC) and fired David Cutcliffe. Neither program has been the same since. Of course Ole Piss never was anywhere close to Nebraska, but you get the point.

Economics is a huge issue. The state is so poor and education is so bad that it's hard to raise money or even get the good athletes into college.

Ole Miss' "glory days" were pretty much during Segregation, so they didn't have to worry about recruiting black players.

I think their biggest problem is there are a big portion of top state recruits that can't qualify. High school academics in the state are taking a toll.
