This sucks and really appreciate Gen Wade trying to add tier 1 games and climb the rankings...at the end of the day maybe a blessing in disguise. Heal up, get some rest, prep for Saturday. When March comes around, not sure a 5/6 seed vs a 9/10 seed is that big a deal.

Damn.

I figured that might happen. Sad to see because I think BOTH teams wanted that game.

I have to think the reason it was postponed is because LSU and/or the officials couldn't get into Oxford? Fans shouldn't be an issue because we haven't had many fans at games all season.

Unlikely we were getting to a 5 unless we win the SEC tourney. But there is definitely a difference. LSU wants to stay off the 8/9 seed line and avoid potentially playing a 1 seed the second round. A 10 seed would be way more preferable than an 8/9.

I was hoping that another win against OM and hopefully a win against Arky could get us to a 6, but at worst a 7.

This year?

It is a very big deal. Much bigger deal than usual.

This team is not beating Gonzaga, Baylor, or Michigan. When compared to the rest of the tournament field, the top of the 1-seed line is one of the strongest in recent memory.

I don't think this LSU team is as good as Gonzaga, Baylor and/or Michigan. But I'm not willing to go quite so far as to agree that the the top of the 1-seed line is one of the strongest in recent memory in this unique season.

Gonzaga is VERY good. They've beaten Kansas, Iowa, Auburn, Virginia and West Virginia. In most cases soundly. They are the best team in the nation.

Baylor is also very good. Deserving of a #1 seed. But I think they are still questions. Their SOS is 163. They have one good OOC win (vs. Illinois) They also have conf wins vs. OU, Kansas, Texas and Texas Tech. However, they have had some big games canceled recently: at OU, Texas Tech, at WVU. Could they win them all? Absolutely. But they haven't played those rematch games...yet. Plus, there is a lot of familiarity with conference opponents that you won't have in the NCAAT. Baylor is certainly good enough to win it all. But they have only played ONE good team this year outside of Big 12 play.

Michigan has played the 89th toughest schedule and NO good teams outside of Big 10 play. Their game against Illinois last week was postponed. They really struggled against Wisconsin in the first half before roaring back in the second. They have only played 5 Q1 games to date. They are 4-1. They are about to play 3 more (Rutgers, OSU, Iowa). Again, they have been very good this season and I wouldn't be surprised to see them win it all. But they are going to have to leave the familiarity of the Big 10 to do it.

Point being, because OOC scheduling was unprecedently difficult and many games have been postponed/canceled for basically every team, I don't know if we can have a complete picture going into the NCAAT. I think would could have one of the bigger crapshoot NCAAT's that we've have in a while because of just the nature of this season

Yet Alabama played in Fayetteville last night. It’s been snowing there since Monday with historic sub-zero temps.
