I started going to LSU games in 1971. There is much less alcohol, booing and fights in the stands now.

Jennings was being booed. Sorry a teenage football player can ruin so many people's lives

Please name a few groups of fans from either college or pro teams that don't boo when they see poor coaching decisions and poor play from a team that was expected to do well.
I have seen/heard Nebraska fans boo and they are largely viewed as one of the best fan bases around.
Personally, booing a group of kids or one who is having a bad game shows more than a little poor sportsmanship.

I recall Les being booed in 05 when Tennessee came back from 21-0
That was the game Les lost me as a supporter. I knew then he could never be a coach I could get behind when he tried running out the clock with the first drive of the third quarter. I do not subscribe to the philosophy of playing not to lose. You play to win until the final gun. You never let up.

As a player, if you want the cheers, you need to be able to handle the boos.
Because if fans are not allowed to show their displeasure with your play, cheers don't really mean shite.

Ronnie Lewis was booed and he flipped off the student section

Bullfrog Oldtimers regarding the booing... They were booing in the 50's too. Dad said that as a high school senior on a recruiting trip to LSU, the booing at the game was so bad he chose not to play for LSU.
So disgusted he was he signed with Nicholls instead right.

Hilliard fumbled and later got back in the game. Jennings had turnovers and didn't play for the last 40 minutes of the game.
Hilliard sat for a LONG time before finally getting back in.
Jennings had three turnovers (four for the team) before finally being replaced.
Going back a few seasons...J. Lee throws one INT and was essentially benched for the remainder of the season. Jefferson had no clue what was happening yet continued to play.
Miles is not consistent with his turnover rule...PERIOD! If you don't realize this, you either don't watch LSU football or you're an idiot. I'm guessing the latter.

I remember it as far back as Carl Otis Trimble and Pat Lyons. I think there has probably been some booing and catcalling well back beyond those days. I also remember how the crowd would cheer for Ensminger when he came in over David Woodley. Woodley, himself, expressed frustration over that although he knew it was a lot about Steve being from the BR area. Yet, of the two only Woodley reached a Super Bowl. It happens and is going to happen, but yeah, I appreciate the effect it could have on the kids playing. In addition to "Help Mac pack", I also remember a year or two that the crowd wanted Jerry Stovall's balls deep fried, and let's don't even get into that miserable frick Hallman.

This is why our players leave early for NFL, crappy fans that boo and leave game early
I don't condone "crappy fans," booing, or leaving early, but I have NEVER heard any of our former players mention these as their reason for leaving early.
I am pretty sure it is the pursuit of money, and a lack of scholastic enthusiasm, that causes them to leave.

Have we always booed?
We had less to "Boo" back in the 90's because everyone's expectations were so low!

LSU fans have booed for as long as I remember, certainly back to the 1970's. Whether they're booing the coaches or players doesn't matter. They may say they're booing the coach, but they're booing the performance of the player on the field AND the coach's decision to leave him in there.
It's not a situation unique to LSU. It happens everywhere. I honestly have little problem with the fans booing if the performance is bad. To disgust that many people into booing, the performance on the field has to be pretty bad.

i don't believe in booing individual players or coaches... they get cheered as a team and booed as a team...

I think the fans were just booing the offense in general, not Jennings.
Do you think the players thought this? That's fricking stupid logic.

I remember the good ole days when there was the thing about who had the neatest portable bar in the stands.
If you needed a little "help" with your Coca Cola, there was always someone near who was happy to share. Got through several cold nights like that back in the early to mid 70's.

"Help Mac Pack" signs in the 70's. And that was for the coach with the most wins in LSU history.

here wasn't a bunch of handwringing about it though because people weren't giant vaginas back then.
Yes they were, we just didn't have internet and message boards to expose it.

You mean two interceptions while being obviously rattled in that game. Then Jefferson comes in and completes 60% of his passes and allows the team to win that game.

However, in last nights game, I was thinking this as well.
