DiNardo on paper was a good hire. He did bring in a lot of good recruits. Lou Tepper was abysmal and Jerry didn’t adjust well. He is to be thanked for pulling us somewhat out of the dark ages with Faulk and Faneca.

He did recruit well at home. I agree with the Tepper fiasco

I'm not putting anybody down for being a fan longer than me lol I love the history of lsu and like to here it from those that where there. When I'm an "old timer" I'll tell plenty tales of my era, and of course, never let the memory of 2019 go away

It's all good dude, but there are some old timers sensitive to that shite. Lol Nobody likes to grow old, if I had a choice about vampirism I might try it. Lol

The Better question is why the hell did LSU hire Mike Archer when they could have had Steve Spurrier!

Simply put, they let the inmates run the asylum. Players, led by Tommy Hodson, appeared before a BOS meeting and “demanded” Archer be hired. After 1 10-win season, things went south in a hurry.

Miles was actually well liked by people early on til they finally figured out the guy was a real old timer from the stone age. His offenses were straight garbage and I knew that from the beginning when he blew that first game to Tennessee back in his debut in 2005. He could have won a NC that very first year with Saban's players and blew it. That team went unbeaten the whole season after blowing that Tennessee game, and they had Georgia scared to death of them in the SECCG only to get blown out. Smh

Yes sir, LSU should have more NC's than they do. You are absolutely right!

Also, Miles barely won the 1 NC that he has, he won that with a 2 loss LSU team which is embarrassing to the program - 2 losses. That team was hands down the most talented team in the country that year! But I don't wanna turn this into a Les Miles thread.

I think Joe Dean interviewed UH Johnny Jenkins. that is how much a slimeball Joe Dean was. But Joe liked his liquor.

Georgia wasn't scared of anyone. And that LSU team ran out of gas. A massive natural disaster to rattle everyone at the start followed by 10 weeks of SEC play with no bye. The stunner isn't that LSU didn't win the NC that year-it's that they didn't drop 2 or 3 more games after UT.

And 2011. And we weren't that far off - a couple of players at most - in 2010, 2012 and 2013.

Man, please, I lived in Atlanta that year and all the sportwriters and analysts up there talked about was how talented that LSU team was, and Georgia was gonna get blowed out. They were all in a shock after the game and that UGA had actually blowed out LSU and not the opposite. I also get tired of hearing that LSU ran out of gas shite, that's a bunch of BS because teams should always be ready to play at that level.

Joe Dean got jack andonie and the other italian on the LSU board to approve buying out Sullivan's buyout. At the board meeting they turned on Joe and told him no way were they buying out Suillivans contract. They then set up Dinardo (the Italian) to get the job, Andonie and the other Italian on the LSU board set up Joe Dean. What a joke they were.

Don't remember the exact line but LSU was barely a favorite in that game.

He didn't start out with Lou Tepper.

Carl Reece was the DC on DiNardo's original Staff. He was very good, but was hired away by John Mackovic at Texas.

DB Coach Ron Case also left at the same time to join Mack Brown's Staff at North Carolina.

Game over for DiNardo as their replacements weren't very good........

Because we couldn't get Pat Sullivan away from TCU due to contractual obligations. We hired DiNardo from Vandy, and he left owing them a ton of money. Back then, we were lucky to get any decent coach because the program had stagnated so under Archer and then Hallman. Coach DiNardo did some good things for us and left some great players for Saban to start his first two seasons with.

You obviously have no recollection of how that schedule played out because of the hurricanes. Two SEC games in the span of 6 days which were the first two of 11 consecutive games.
