With the recent passing of Billy Cannon, I thought I would post this picture of Billy with my Great Grandparents.

He grew up as their next door neighbors off Chippewa Street.

This picture was taken a week after he won the Heisman.

I was a huge Billy Cannon fan growing up in Baton Rouge in the 50's and 60's, I had a Hutch football helmet and colored in a lightning bolt on both sides (huge Charger fan @ that time) and the #20 under the bolts. Later in high school got my #20 Jersey.

Man that’s an awesome picture. I just can’t even dream what it would be like to be 22 and a National Champion plus a Heisman. Oh boy arse just rolls in

Been in your great grandparents house and Billy's house, we lived on the end of Chippewa Street.

Billy and George Rice both played football on my grandmother fields. It was the longest yard around Istrouma, many great and very good players played on her yard. You name the sport, football, baseball, basketball etc. for near 40 years all played there.

Funny things is Pete Maravich's future wife lived 2 blocks south of Winbourne Elementary so many of my Uncles and cousins played him in pick up basketball games.
