JJ is going to have a great year. This shite will be epic. We're all going to wake up one morning in the middle of the season and realize that "JJ for Heisman" is no longer silly talk.

Nope. Watched JJ throw the ball last week. JL and Mett easily outshined him despite all this made up improvement. I'll give you a link on sep. 3. I hope he just had a 3 year slump and turns it on. I will gladly eat crow as I chant JJ's name, if we win the sec.

I agree. No way will the Tigers win the SEC with JJ as quarterback. His arm strength is only quality which can make up for many errors. He takes too long to make decisions and hardly looks to secondary receivers. Slow reaction has plagued him since he has been at LSU.

I say JJ surprises people and has a breakout season. New mechanics and some off season confidence gives him the edge he needs. Plus an improved O-Line and playcalling.

My take on JJ! He seems to be mentally flipping through the playbook pages when he gets to the line of scrimmage to determine what play he called in the huddle. Mechanics have not changed, he still throws like a javelin track man. His arm strength can get him out of some situtation and his running skills can also. He will continue to make bad decisions with his throws because he will not understand the defensive schemes and always throw to double coverage. This can't be coached in one year.
Look at video of past performances and video of practice this year. Samemo! Samemo! Mett to the rescue this year for Tigers.

I love those who have decided that a 20 yr old football player who has accounted for 37 TDs and 4500 yds at the BCS level can't improve, but another 20 yd old football player who has accounted for 0 TDs and 0 yds can and will jump from 3rd string to 1st.

I love when people think that JJ can wake up and morph into an sec caliber qb. Mett can't be worse than 112 out of 119 qbs in the nation. And if he is, then it won't make a difference because we competed well last year with no qb. When the defense slips like in the Arkansas game, you should be able to depend on a qb that can make something happen. Instead we had great starting field position and had to settle for field goals. I mentioned the Ark game because it is an example of when the defense and special teams didn't play great. The problem is the defense bailed JJ out all year and he couldnt return the favor in one game.

The UNC, AU, OM games weren't exactly defensive gems you know.
I can just as easily say the D owns the 2 losses, but unlike some, I realize it's a team sport.

JJ has been inconsistent and has had some bad games, but lets not act like the guy has no talent or hasn't helped LSU obtain it's last 2 national rankings.

I'm all for Mett or JL, but they still running behind that guy you label non-SEC caliber...right?

Championing the recent QB flavor of the month is fine, but how bout we let the guy do something before we throw the other two under the LSU fan bus.

But they also owned 11 wins along with the special teams. If JJ could have led the offense at all in the arky game then the two bombs would have been irrelevant. Teams sold out on the run and put the pressure on JJ. He failed time and time again. When he was able to complete a "routine" pass, it went for big gains due to single coverage. He just couldn't complete enough. It is a team sport and the only position we were missing last year was a qb.
