Youre missing the point. We are arguing for the support of other SEC schools; we arent talking about chanting SEC.
Based on this argument, nobody should ever really chant for their team since it's pointless.
You think chanting in TS has no effect on the opposing team or helps LSU any?
If we needed Bama to win in order for us to make it to the SEC champ game, you don't pull for them?
Yes, we know the obvious, and that is not part of the discussion. But LSU is not going to go undefeated every year, and things may need to fall in our favor. We made it to the champ game in 2007 BECAUSE THE OTHER SEC TEAMS WON! What more proof do you need than that right there to prove why you should want SEC teams to do well.

I think that some of ya'll assume that "The SEC is the best football conference" is a principle of college football. Like that's the basic premise that everything is built on.
It's not.
The reason the SEC is the best football conference is that we perform well in games against non-conference opponents. Particularly bowl games and national championship games.
"The SEC is the best football conference" is only a trend. It's the way things are now, but it has not always been that way, nor is it guaranteed to continue.
Therefore, if every other SEC team lost all its non-conference games, then the value and the credibility of the SEC as a whole will suffer. You need only to look at the Big Ten to see this played out. 10 years ago, the Big Ten was the best football conference. But then they started losing bowl games and non-conference games, and now look where they are.
THEREFORE, it is important to LSU for other teams in the SEC to do well.
Except Alabama. They can lose every freaking game for all I care.

1. OK fans hate OK State.. and Les beat them a couple of times while he was at OK st... so OK fans dont like Les or LSU
