I’m old and retired. Not rich by any means and on a fixed income. Wife still working her way towards retirement with not too much longer to go.

But we’ve raised some good kids and in a couple of cases gave grandkids a good start. They’ve all moved away. I told the wife at Christmas that maybe we should start thinking about doing something for ourselves.

She said that there’s only one thing that she really wants. To be in the dome to see the Tigers win the NC.

So we are going. I’ll try to rep all of us with a TD sign if we get good seats but money isn’t really that important to us anymore for several reasons. I missed it in 2004. This is my last chance. I’m not going to miss it. We don’t have tickets yet but are looking at several packages. Probably not buying until about a week.

Oh. Almost forgot. No pics of wife. Gfy.

How the frick can you be retired and not afford $3,000 for two tickets? Do you not have a credit card? Jesus, take out a freaking HELOC should you must.

Use the credit card dude. U may never have this chance again. FFs that’s what I’m doing. 17 dollars a month until I die...which won’t be long.

GEAUX TIGERS!

Keep preaching my friend. The thing is, for the first time in 40 years I am debt free so the credit card is not really an option. The feeling of no debt is remarkable. I would have to dig into the reserve savings I have. If there’s one thing I’d use that on is an LSU NC game.

The other hang up I have is the thought of having a crappy seat and not really being able to see/enjoy the game. I’ve only been in the Dome for high school games where good seats are plentiful.

Remember when we were younger and we could always justify an expense by the belief that we had plenty of time left. That all changes with a fixed income.

Then either die debt free or live fulfilling a dream. It’s simple.

Edited to add: who wins?

We wouldn’t even be having this discussion if I knew I could see us win. I believe we will win, I know it won’t be a 2011 miserable game but that thought “what if you spend this money and you walk out heart broken” keeps creeping in. Yes, I’m a wimp.

You missed my point my friend. You only lose if you don’t go. The outcome isn’t the important thing at this point. Although, I don’t think this game will be close. That’s beside the point that I was making.

You should just go. We are old. You may never be this close to an event involving your team again.

Your hesitation will haunt you. I promise.

Me and Heather will be there. One way or the other. We will be in that dome. See you there!

You and your wife deserve it. GEAUX to the game! Spend your kids inheritance money. I'm older that you and just happy to see LSU beat Bama before I go to the happy hunting ground. When I'm gone, I hope I've spent all my money and my kids get a bill for something...

You don’t live forever, do what makes you happy. Credit cards are there for a reason. Use one of those no interest credit card checks for a year that you always throw away, or apply for a new credit card and do balance transfer.... then you watch the end of the greatest season in LSU football history

I made all three. Loved the first two. Still stung by 2011. Young kids and 15 months away from retirement. Not sure what to do?

If you sit in the terrace you’ll wish you hadn’t. Such a horrible experience to have to open your legs to see the field. Have fun.

Its not just going to watch a Natty, but going to see a legend play with one of the best teams in LSU history to win the Natty. Its the lore of the Billy Cannon years...just when will that happen again?

We'll play for another Natty, just not with this team.

Many people use credit cards to just keep transferring debt. I don’t have much. Very little in fact. So I intend to really splurge for her. I kinda know what to do after that.

I’m just trying to make her happy.

Erm...it’ll make me even happier.

Life is about making memories.

Not many , if any, lay on their death bed wishing they’d skipped happiness in favor of prudence for prudence sake.
Sounds like you and North raised your families and met your responsibilities and loved your wives throughout.
That’s the legacy of any man, not an extra $2000 to divide up after dad is gone.

Go make memories.
This is meaningful.
