Ok, enough with scheduling HBCUs

The Southern and Grambling games were scheduled out of white-guilt during late 2010s protests. It does a disservice to players on these HBCU squads. Grambling had at least five injuries last night, one serious enough to require being carted off.
No one wants these games. 137-27 in two games. Even the G6 teams in Louisiana destroy these schools.

This is a very ignorant take. LSU has always played FCS teams, so why not in-state Grambling and Southern. I was surprised that they hadn’t ever played Southern who resides in the same town. Maybe there was a reason for that and someone decided that it was about time for them to play.
You really you think 10 times before posting this crap.

So this is what we are choosing to complain about this morning?

Its an in state university thing. These schools in louisiana rotate playing lsu and get a big pay day.

It's also a big pay day for those schools and gives them an opportunity to experience playing a big time D1 program. Ultimately it's a win for them.
Anyway, their offense made our D look like shite so they still have something to take away from the experience from a game standpoint as well.

If LSU is playing cupcakes I’m good with it going to the in-state schools.
At least keep the money home instead of playing New Mexico State.

Why not keep the rent-a-win money in state?

I understand a rotational schedule of LSU playing each in state public university.
Factually, the games usually aren’t competitive in any meaningful sense and there can and will be injuries.
I don’t think it racist for the OP to state that last nights game was non competitive and there were injuries. Fortunately, for the player involved in the injury that appeared serious, all turned out well.

I can’t disagree enough.
We keep the money in state for starters. Then LSU gets a confidence win.
Then some of these kids get to play in TS when they may have never had the chance.

Yeah, must be my imagination...

The push for the game continued. One night about three years ago inside Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Gov. John Bel Edwards summoned a group of school representatives, including Ausberry and Tony Clayton, the former chairman of Southern’s board of supervisors.
“ ‘Guys,’ ” Clayton remembered Edwards saying, “ ‘why not?’ ”
“I thought it would be beneficial,” Edwards said. “At the same time, I don't want to overstate my role in it. I think this is something the two universities and their leaders really wanted to do. They had to make it work.”
The next spring, Ausberry sat in his office in the midst of a national social justice movement after the killing of George Floyd. Wondering what he could do, Ausberry thought finally about scheduling the games.
Ausberry decided the teams were stable enough to compete, and he believed LSU’s first football game against an HBCU opponent might help bridge the divides. LSU and Southern agreed to a $700,000 guarantee with an additional $60,000 payment to Southern’s athletic foundation and 800 complimentary tickets.
“It does start a healing process,” Ausberry said, “from things in the past.”

I am not against scheduling these games.
Folks do downvote in the face of facts, though. It doesn’t change that these games can and will be scheduled with other in state public universities desirous of the payday from a game at Tiger stadium.
People denying the timing and rationale for why these specific games were scheduled the last two (2) seasons, after never having occurred, are comfortable with altered facts and their own version of the truth.
