If JT comes back, I'm sure he'd bust his arse to improve at the plate and in the field.

I don't think it's strange. They just signed a ton of top 100 prospects. That's always a huge risk when building a class

Be completely honest here. Is jones as good of a defensive 1b as Morgan?

You'll never, ever have a better defensive first baseman at LSU than Tre Morgan. It's an unrealistic standard you need to forget.

That is exactly my point.

Lets say Guidry stays at P and doesn't play in the infield.

You have White, Jones, Braswell, and Nippolt who all have seen significant time at their positions.

I'm not saying the defense won't take a step back, but to think they will be the bad news bears is laughable

In this scenario, the defense would arguably take a step forward from where it was half the season when Morgan was playing in LF. Braswell/Nippolt are better defensively as a middle infield than were Thompson/Dugas

Why isn’t any ar-Kansas commits ranked in the top 50 even getting drafted?

Yes, but the point being made is that they aren’t losing a lot of those guys to the draft so far, at least no one in this thread has pointed out anyone being drafted in the last 5-7 rounds.

I don't think Turtle even asked the kids if they were leaning towards going pro

I don't have the data to back it up, but I swear he'd sign like 5 guys a year that never had any intention of stepping foot on a college campus and 5 more that were big risks.

It was wild.

They're doing very well.

But they'll all get Van Horned.

They've already had 7-8 of them drafted IIRC. We've ahd similar years too where we signed a boat load of high prospects and kept about half of them

I’d like to keep thinking that but we did the same with Georgia football and look at them now.

So MIF of Thompson and one of Guidry/Braswell/Nippolt next season?

Certainly feels like it, I think Nippolt may get processed though.

Van Horn is more Mark Richt than Kirby Smart.

Skenes may be in the bullpen by then but Crews will not be on the Nats.

I wouldn't buy those tickets just yet. I doubt either of them see the bigs this year after reading what the Pirates plan to do with Skenes

Very rare for a position player to make it up that quick too

They had 5 top 51 players. the top 3 got drafted, the next 2 (ranked 48 and 51) pulled their names from the draft.

ETA:

Took this from the Recruitng board thread.
quote:

Drafted
27.) Miller SS #13
37.) George OF #65
50.) Zanetello SS #52
52.) Martin SS #30
150.) Questad RHP #194
234.) Kent RHP #126
235.) Yoho - portal transfer from Indiana to Arkansas

Available
#139 Fisher LHP
#141 Dietz LHP
#183 McGuire RHP
#205 Helfrick C
#222 Souza SS

Taken their name out of the draft
#101 Hachmann LHP
#159 Gaeckle RHP

They didn't keep a single top 100 player from their class. These rankings incorporate transfers.

Guy actually got PT this year and in some critical situations. He was also never allowed to really get into a rhythm. I feel like Jay must think somewhat highly of him.
