This is the number 1 class. Vandy got gutted in the draft and we’re bringing in 6 top 65 or so prospects to go along with Tommy White and Hurd.

College baseball recruiting rankings don’t change after the draft. That class is set in stone, rankings wise.

Dont know why people think there's no way he cant win that job. He ended last season on a pretty good run at SS.
I don’t know, maybe because they’ve watch Thompson struggle there for two years.

So we’ll end up with a top 7 class, which is solid considering who’s coming back.
Uhh, pretty certain it’s going to be the #1 class by a mile.

Looks like Ethan Frey is coming to campus per his twitter
I like the picture of him next to jay and him being nearly two feet taller

Jay apparently really wanted Travinski back
I’m glad you mentioned this. I have been feeling this way for a while. I don’t get it. But jay has his reasoning

I think Jones and Frey are too big to catch, unless we go to automated strike zone.
Neal is good, but he is a freshmen. Milazzo is tough but he has had his injuries. We don't know about Skenes. I personally think Travinski is our third catcher and will compete with about 7 others for DH.

I'm sure Noot was offered big money in rounds 2-4. If he turned it down then, he will turn it down now.
Carter is the one I'm concerned about. I believe he is our starting SS if he comes, so that's a big deal. Pineda gone acutally helps us with Carter. The path to starting just got a lot easier for him. He also has the talent that he could really boost his draft stock by returning. It's not like he doesn't have millions to gain by coming back.
Skenes I believe would rather play for LSU, perhaps win a championship (awesome life experience) and get coached by Wes. The only thing that might stop him from coming to LSU is playing time.
Dugas will not sign UDFA. It's doubtful Jobert would turn down day 2 money to sign UDFA but I don't completely get it. He lacks the speed for OF, so he is mostly a bat. DH competition: White, Jones, Frey, Travinksi, Beloso and a good chance Pearson or Dugas if Kling pushes one of them out in the outfield. I know Jobert is living his dream at LSU and they have a chance at a Natty. It makes me more of a fan of his. He has hit his whole college career, so I will be rooting for him.
I will add this thought as well. With the portal, it doesn't make sense to recruit HS that are just program players. Why develop a guy for three years on a hunch that he will develop. Just go in the portal every year and get the guys that have already developed. The point is, that it is now about big game hunting, in recruiting and the portal. That's exactly what happened this year and I'm really happy we are leading the way. I think we might have the best staff in the country to continue on that path. Let the dynasty begin.

Project, say Carter Young does decide to sign, any idea what middle infielders still in the portal are worth going after?

Heck you was one of the ones not wanting to give Johnson any credit for recruiting and laughed when I said the law of averages says the schools with the most top 100 prospects before the draft has the best chance of getting the most top 100 players to campus after the draft numbers wise. It’s ok you can praise Johnson now and admit that players view LSU as the top program in baseball still just like I told you.Baseball looks like it’s on the right path under coach Jay
