Neal said he didn’t decide publicly earlier because he was on a boat. He will fit in just fine at LSU.

Can’t be overstated how insane it is that Chase Shores will be throwing to Brady Neal at LSU.

Going to be nasty. This is the type of class that springboards us back to where LSU belongs.

Jay apparently really wanted Travinski back, so I’m assuming there is a plan. They definitely aren’t processing Jones or Neal. Milazzo will really have to hit to keep his spot

Hayden should have entered the portal. I’m not in favor of cutting kids but he should have been told that would be best for him

Portal is closed except for any kind of special waiver. 3 new catchers isn’t a reason for a waiver lol

True. However, a reduction in scholarship would be grounds for a waiver for immediate eligibility elsewhere.

Neal bc we need a two-way option behind the plate. Noot bc effortless mid to upper 90s with some junk.

With this class I think I’m willing to trade Noot for Neal. Now don’t get wrong I want them both but I desperately want a true two way catcher and I think we got enough pitching in this class to make up for losing noot.

Maybe just keep his options open. But there was a very legit scenario that he was going into fall as the starting catcher. Still is, actually. I don’t think Milazzo’s on the roster next year. His defense doesn’t overcome his offense. A healthy Travinski hits enough to catch assuming his defense is improved while healthy.

You think the freshman is ready to start behind plate Day 1? If so, how does Skenes frick with that if we somehow land him? I think, as good as he is, Skenes makes the weekend really weird and maybe a net negative unless you just commit to him pitching.

Anyone know if milazzo or hayden might have to transfer out or is it too late for that? Signing all 3 catchers in the class makes me thing 1 or both of them are gone in some way

They would have to transfer down in classification to be eligible to play next year.

Also you’ve got to have more than one catcher and as good as Neal is I don’t want to have to rely on a freshman catcher to start day one. If he wins the job that’s fine and I kind of expect it but he needs to compete against an upper classman.

You would take Travinski over Milazzo? No way in hell I would. Skenes is being recruited as a starting pitcher and a backup plan at catcher if needed.
Better yet go ask the teammates which one they would want

Travinski has plus power, but he also strikes out a lot. If he can improve on that and his defense...he's easily worth keeping.

Milazzo REALLY needs to improve at hitting.

It will be interesting to see what happens. At this exact time...I'd take Milazzo over Travinski bc of his elite defense.

Anyone who wants Travinski to catch over Milazzo isn’t worth the energy it takes to argue with them.

Milazzo is a fine no 2 C. He just isn’t a SEC starter

Travinski is expendable, his skill set is now repetitive

McManus and Travinski cost us multiple games behind the plate last year. McManus at least made up for some of them with some clutch hits. I don't think Travinski ever won a game for us. No way in hell I'm taking Travinski over Milazzo.

And we saw this year how important it is to have depth at Catcher. Hell a lot of us thought Travinski wouldn't even play last season bc of the UCL injury. Then Milazzo goes down. We got very lucky that McManus transferred in and I'm pretty sure he was playing hurt.

Yeah, you beat me to it. If I had to pick between Milazzo and Travinski, I’m taking Milazzo all day. The amount of cross ups and pass balls from our catchers last year costed quite a few guns and a few patches of my hair. I can’t tell y’all how many times I was screaming at the TV for McManus to get off of one knee while runners were on base.

So we’ll end up with a top 7 class, which is solid considering who’s coming back.

I think it will be more like top 2.

Technically, yes it's a top 7 class. It will be much better than that though

It’s still the number 1 class by a wide margin.
