His numbers were very good this year, granted it was at a Community College. 3-2. 3 saves. 21 innings. 14 appearances. 1.66 ERA. 35 Ks 7 BB. Batting avg against him was .157. He looks like a good option to be the setup guy for Fontenot.

Not LSU related, but does anyone know if Drake Varnado was drafted?

I didn’t notice that he was. The last several rounds were loaded with college guys.

Thanks. I am trying to look it up myself.
Maybe he hasn't been drafted yet.

I believe the deadline to sign or stay in college is August 1st?

Gervase tweet confirming he’ll be going to LSU this season. You can throw him on the list of going to LSU.

Looks like a big tall guy, any knowledge on velocity and pitches he throws?

Sure would've been nice to keep Selvidge. You knew it was asking too much to keep a talented lefty.
Need some young guys to emerge this year or one of the older guys. Who has ace potential? Seems like our bullpen will be decent but nobody in it you can reliably overpower an opponent with. Maybe to early to say.

Javen Coleman could be an ace. Eric Reyzelman has been dominant this summer and may be a one year guy. There's 1-2 names that we aren't hearing yet.
Hilliard coming back is at least a Saturday starter. AJ Labas comes back? He's a starter.
Cale Lansville, Grant Taylor, and Grant Fontenot are all power arms in this freshmen class who could become Sunday guys.
The team won't have that one dominant guy by any means but returning everyone in the lineup they won't need to be perfect like they had to be in 20 and 21.

What time does it start up today?

I could see him or fontenot becoming that dominant starter

Was going through PG's Top 100 (HS only) and noticed Vanderbilt has the #24 overall player who is a lefty pitcher who hits 96 and went undrafted so far...it's almost unreal how they continually do this every year seems like
Florida also has a catcher ranked #31 overall who went undrafted...as well as a lefty pitcher who hits 94 ranked #33 who went undrafted. As well as 6'8 lefty pitcher who hits 94 ranked Top 50 who went undrafted. They signed 7 Top 70 kids and are bringing in 4 of them.

Correct, a couple other posters confirmed that in this thread.

Sully isn’t a high character guy though. Allegedly.

Yea but they’re probably all from Florida so it doesn’t count.
I kid I kid

Just eyeballing the team lists of guys drafted already, the Orioles and Reds still seem like they could throw some money around today.
Everyone starts with $125K that doesn't count against the pool. That's a good head start if the guy you're targeting is okay with a couple 100 grand.

This is what LSU is lacking. It’s a talent gap more that a coaching gap, and we definitely needed a coaching upgrade.
That’s why I’m most optimistic about this staff. They all seem to take recruiting seriously. I think Woodward recognized that.
