The fastest I ever saw in high school was 93 and I could barely find the ball much less hit it.

I'm sure Espino committed well over a year ago.
Many of these guys commit like 2 years in advance, some just blow up even more.

The same reason we wasted time recruiting Bregman.
Anything can happen. One freak injury and he falls in the draft and comes to campus. shite happens and we want to be waiting in the wings if it does

He did. And his HS coach (I think) has a personal connection to Dunn. Espino was brought to our attention more than us finding him (that's not meant as a slight to th staff, but an explanation of why we recruited him).
Not really any downside for LSU in this situation anyway.

Espino went from having a 93 mph fastball to consistently hitting 98. It’s hard to project a high schooler is going to develop that kind of stuff. He is a + strike thrower too.

Looking ahead, I think we are going to have very little, to no, trimming down to do with our roster. I'm looking at 39 with Hess, Watson, Peterson, Smith, Espino, Hinds, Hampton all being gone.
I'm sure we won't be looking at a best case scenario of that either.
Maybe looking into a JUCO guy or two to fill in a whole where we end up missing on guys going MLB.
