This is way closer than we normally are at this point.

Bt17 said one of Ripoll, Threadgill, and Gunter would be cut. They were all being talked about in the thread but I couldn’t tell who he was referring to. Of the three of those Threadgill is my pick to be kept. I think he has potential.

At this point we usually are like "uhhh we're at 46/35...what will we do

At least one other guy will fall through and not make it to campus. Cutting 4 guys will be easy.

Gunter was hitting 94mph last weekend with life. He's not going anywhere either.

I get that I just don’t want to think about who is going to have to be cut

who would be the 5 cuts?

Ironically, we're going to have to cut a Doughty for Doughty.

Does bullpen catcher have to be a roster spot?

Threadgill and Ripoll both have summer assignments, that doesn't always mean anything though.

Gunter is still on the post season roster.

I can think of a reason to keep every player on the current roster.

I would expect Gunter and Threadgill to stay. Like I said it was hard to tell who bt17 was talking about but it looked like Ripoll. I just wasn’t sure

Cairo likely signing saved Hughes.

You don't cut a guy like Gunter with a fastball like that. You keep him and hope he develops instead of developing him for another school if he transfers.

No. Some schools have non-roster spots for bullpen catchers. I guess they're kind of a mix between an equipment manager and a student assistant.

But I was reading the rulebook once looking for something else and found that if you make a player on your roster an equipment manager, they cannot ever go back on the roster.

I just struggle to imagine that PM didn’t make some sort of promise to Cade about older Doughty’s place

Someone else, who I don't remember who, said Ripoll is leaving. I asked whose decision and they said Ripoll's.

Obviously take it with a grain of salt, but it was one of those posts that sticks out in a sea of noise as "wait, this guy might know something."
