I'm not particularly surprised by this.

Wish Slaughter would have stayed though.

Disappointing Slaughter is signing, with leverage he could have coming back still. Maybe this is a "you better leave now while you still were playing" thing though

Mainieri said Zack Hess would have been drafted in the third round if he would've agreed to sign for $600,000

Mainieri said Hess will be a starter as of right now. "At this point, it would be a resounding yes."

Brewers' bonus pool is $6 million. Might be too little for Turang's asking price.

If Brice is asking for 6 million

I would be fine with Hess remaining a weekend starter, but get him out of that Friday slot please.

Cabell went to a prep school and took online courses. He wants to play baseball he doesn't want to go to class.

He probably never intended on coming to LSU. He didn't even go to an actual high school, he went to a baseball facility that created an "academy." He might just not want to go D1 at all. He'll end up at some high level Florida JUCO if he doesn't sign with the Brewers.

I've never expected him to make it to campus. Especially after he transferred high schools.

It sounds a little weird. Obviously he doesn’t have to be released just to sign with the Brewers and unless something has changed he doesn’t have to be released to sign with a juco.

ETA: It may just be Mainieri’s way of saying “he isn’t coming here anyway so we aren’t even going to worry about it”.
