You're right. I forgot the civil rights movement was spearheaded by USL.
That was a dark time for everyone in the south. For you to portray your school as "not as racist" as a Red Herring for your intense insecurity cheapens the important work done by actual civil rights leaders.
In short, enjoy a good baseball series and don't be an a-hole.

Talk about name recognition!
LSU has 64 alumni chapters outside of the state of Louisiana and 12 international chapters according to the alumni website.
UL Lafayette alumni website does not list any chapters at all.

Let's assume Mardi Gras for colors and the name Tigers comes from The Tiger regiment out of New Orleans during the Civil War. It's kinda funny that Gold means Power and Purple is justice, but more or less means royalty. Kinda funny that LSU is Purple and Gold and Tulane is green which represents faith it's still a very generic nickname, I don't see Tigers roaming around in Louisiana. It is the most used nickname in Sports. I am guessing why yall use the term Bayou Bengals. And the term Geaux was used by UL before LSU even thought of it.
Now THIS is how you throw down some smack talk, people.

I did not claim anything of the sort... The analogy was simply to show that some things take time... And to illustrate that there was a time when LSU proclaimed to us that our stepping out of the box would NEVER prevail... No there are people who suffered far greater losses than a basketball program in that fight to be sure....
Down to the last few hours before i head home and get ready.. I won't be an A-hole... but I won't shrink away from your A-holes either.... Hopefully its all fun and the best team does not win..

I will close this by stating when the game starts Lsu will be introduced as LSU and your so called UL will be introduced as UL-L not the flagship school or the U of L so sorry you are too dense to accept the truth. It is past time for you to do so.

What was ULLs mascot before they pulled another Bruce Jenner and changed that?
Maybe ULL should just become the Chameleons since you change to whatever suits you at the time.

You've been being the biggest, most antagonistic a-hole on this board since the pairing was announced.

we branded ourselves Louisiana.
You can't brand yourself something to which you have no right to claim. Have you never read the legislation passed explicitly stating that no univ. under the UL Board of Supervisors has the exclusive right to the name "Univ. of LA"? Here the quote from the official act. (Look for III, C): ( https://ulsystem.edu/assets/docs/searchable/boards/M-%20%282%29_name_change_policies.pdf)
"The use of the two-letter University of Louisiana abbreviation, 'UL,' and/or the
phrase 'U of L' are prohibited by the university or any of its affiliated organizations
(alumni associations, development foundations, bookstores, etc.). For academic,
public relations, athletic, as well as other purposes not specified, the use of the
University of Louisiana abbreviation must always include the abbreviation for the
municipal location of the institution."

Dude, it's a lost cause.
I've been posting link after link for two days now showing how they have no legal authority to change their name, and they just don't get it. It's like pissing in the wind trying to get them to understand.

These ULL fans are cracking me up. It's like a little kid that ties a a towel around his neck and starts calling himself superman.
Have noticed how many of them are openly stating that the Big 12 will inevitably send an invitation to YoU'L- Laugh to join the conference? That should send you into hysterics!

I know I'll be talking into the wind, but I always find it interesting that so few people understand that LSU is not LSU A&M like Texas A&M. Louisiana State University and Louisiana Agricultural and Mechanical college were two separate entities in the late 1800's. When they were brought under a single administrative umbrella, the entire title became Louisiana State University AND Agricultural and Mechanical College. Two entities part of a single university system, just as LSU Law is now part of said system. Louisiana State University is not now, and has never been, LSU A&M.
Not that it would bother me if it were, but it isn't, and inaccuracy irks me

Correction: Eagle is most common. Also, those other programs didn't pick a nickname based on a Confederate battalion.

It's against system policy, yet they persist.
That's some strong self-loathing at work there.
