Only complaint was the student section line, we left the parade grounds at 4:50 and didn't get into the stadium till 6:05. They were trying to make every student go through a one doorway sized opening. It was absolutely horrible, lots just left instead of staying in line any longer. LSU cops were being complete dicks threatening to throw students in jail, eventually opened up all the gates like last year after the students started getting mad

Idk if anybody has stated this yet but the Welcome to Death Valley sign on the east side came from the scoreboard in the south end zone. That's why it seems so small. They didn't custom fit it for the east side or anything like that.

Haven't read the entire thread, but has anyone complained about that one fraternity doing the seven nation army thing towards the end of the game? Whatever fraternity that was needs to go back to the big 10.

I'm shocked this thread has made it this far without mention of this song being played during a tv time out...
Wait for it....
Whomp! There it is!
Also, the lightning delay messed up the Pregame timing. That is why the jumbotron started the LSU entrance video before the band had finished. Both teams normally leave the field at about 22 minutes or so. Then the guest captains and other special acknowledgements are made before the band. There was none of that last night. The band took the field as UAB was leaving the field.

Food always sucks. That's the only complaint I have.
Oh, and we should start selling booze. Would make a killing.

The band has taken a severe nose dive since Wix left.

I think it's ridiculous that most women can't bring in their purses or that we can no longer bring in our "see-through" backpack.
I didn't see anything new as far as food in the West Upper.
We had a hard time hearing Borne where we sit, but I can imagine the student section was getting too much volume.
I hate the piped in music! Play it if the band is not available to play...getting onto the field, etc. We have the best college band in the country ..let them play and entertain us!

I'm not going to complain too much about the piped in music and the new sound system because I can understand some of the issues. They're trying to provide sound for the entire stadium with speakers on one end. They probably should have considered adding a temporary setup for them in the SEZ for the season (it could be done), but they didn't. I like some of the piped in music, but we need less of it with a better selection. Playing a song to pump up recruits is stupid if it doesn't pump up the crowd. When the crowd is rocking, THAT is what makes an impression on recruits. So, do your homework and pick songs that play well for both the recruits and the fans, it isn't that hard.
More GBFTL, and bring back Neck. Do they really think that not playing that song will keep the student section from yelling profane crap?
OK, since I'm rolling now, I'll beat the same drum that I've been beating for years, too. They've spent all of this time and money on the OUTSIDE of TS. The concourses INSIDE still look terrible. The reason that this bothers me is that, unlike the outside projects (aside from the expansion), the inside renovation could pay for itself if done right. You could almost double the number and quality of permanent concessions and gift shops and make the place far more aesthetically pleasing.
On a positive note, the outside renovations do look nice.

I want to know who you have to pay off to get your picture on the scoreboard. We send in our pictures every time to @snap LSU and never get picked.
Yeah we mad

It's not TS. it's ATT.

I'm in the East Upper on the south 20 yard line, and we could barely here Borne. I thought it wasn't nearly loud enough as a PA system.
My biggest complaint of the night was that it took us 30 minutes to get in the stadium through the security line. The two clowns they had checking bags and making everyone remove everything, and I mean everything, from their pockets had the line backed up more than I've ever seen it in the 8 years or so I've been sitting in the East Upper.
This might be my fault. I had to be the first guy up there on Saturday, and the two yahoos doing security when I entered the gate weren't paying a lick of fricking attention to me as I entered (they were too busy looking the other way deep in conversation) and when I walked past them the guy acted like I tried to "sneak" past him...so he went full TSA on me. Patted me down, removed cap, went through my gift shop bag which consisted of a cap and a receipt. I eventually told them they could ease up as it wasn't my fault they weren't paying attention when I tried to walk in and that I had no issue with being treated like that so long as they did the same for everyone else who came in later but that they only did that with me because there was no crushing crowd waiting to get in.
Guess he took it as a challenge...so, you know...kudos to him I guess.
Next week I'm bringing gloves and telling them to glove up for the cavity search...
As for the PA, I agree. There were times when the sound was WAY too loud (usually when playing music that was really bass heavy) and other when it was just Borne when you could not hear what he was saying. I'm going with first game bugs...

quote:i was in west upper and one of those piped in "songs" (if you can call it that) was very annoying and ear piercing. They need to tone down the crap music. I'm not a big fan of piped in stuff, but if you are going to do it at least make it more middle of the road enjoyable. Not every song needs to be gangsta.
1) The PA was WAY too loud. It sounded good, but too much volume. I was lower bowl, about the 30 yard line, toward the top. Is it possible that the speakers just got aimed different since the scoreboard is gone from the south end?
can we have more of the old times where the Band fills in dead time?
and get off my lawn!

As others have said, at points, the music was ear-splitting. The prevalance and amount of piped-in music doesn't really bother me, but damn, turn the volume down just a notch.
The new north endzone area looks nice, but the setup was impractical. They were trying to funnel way too many people through too few openings.
Ballgame food is ballgame food. I don't understand why people get upset when the concession stand food is "bad". What are you expecting? There's hotdogs, nachos and popcorn. If you're looking for a great meal, just eat at the tailgate or go to a restaurant for the game. However, the Chicago-style dog was a nice little change of pace from the regular old soggy-bun plain hotdog.
Finally, who cares what the upper-deck fans think. Those are the cheap-seats, you get what you pay for.

1. Dippin Dots (the second reason I come to games) were $6 and $8! I refused to buy them!
2. They ran out of Great American Cookies!
3. I too had to correct the guy at concessions who can't add and tried to charge me $2 more. Thankfully I had already done the math on the 3 items(!) and knew the correct total.

They jam all cell signals, except Verizon. That is because Verizon is an official LSU Sponsor....it's bullshite.

mine is the people loitering in the alleys and tunnels, took forever to get around to our seats. Then when we exited, we had to walk a country mile thru the streets of campus because they had everything around the stadium blocked off for construction...

I suspect you're right about them trying to compensate. I was in the South and often had trouble hearing the PA.
2) Ok...I have been neutral about it for the most part, but the canned music has gotten over the top. There is too much of it... and it was too loud.
I would not mind a little less of it, too. I don't mind some, but dial it back a bit.
3) I am waiting for the griping about the band doing a Latin show at halftime, but I actually enjoyed it
Meh.
4) And yeah...too many people leave too damn early. To each their own I guess. Tired of beating that dead horse, but I just don't get it.
I would be with you as I usually stay til the end ,,. but I left at the end of the third. Had five kids with me and Saints-Falcons tix. I wimped out.
