So he isn't forced to wait 3 years to go pro?

Yes, but he’s made it completely obvious his commitment to LSU was strong and he’s been in contact with the LSU staff multiple times since the draft. If he ends up in JUCO it would be more suprising than the fact that he went unsigned

Gotcha. I was worried we may have another Mac Marshall situation.

Shouldn’t. Going JUCO would probably hurt his stock unless he would absolutely crush whatever league he’s in. His entire family were student athletes at one point so they obviously value education and what not. Mac Marshall just didn’t want to play school

They can leave after 1 year I think.

However, I can’t imagine him increasing his draft stock that much in a year of juco.

Meh

I’ll admit I’m “intrigued” by the latest developments. Just to make it clear, my hopes are not up.

Unless they never offered him more than 3.6 and they say take it or leave it, it’s looking pretty good. The fact that both the signings come the day that the GM said they haven’t made progress is pretty positive

yea I have to imagine he was holding off on those until he got further with Turang so this is interesting.

Still not getting my hopes up too much but we def have a chance

Still a lot of money to pass up, but if anyone else signs overslot I can’t imagine him signing

Would Brice Turang be a draft eligible Sophomore if he did come to LSU?

“The Brewers over-slot signings of Korry Howell and Reese Olson combined for $400K against their bonus pool. If the Brewers made no other over-slot signings and were willing to go up to 5% over their bonus pool they would now have up to $3,613,695 they could offer Brice Turang.”

“If the Brewers don’t sign Brice Turang and his $3,013,600 slot value is removed from their bonus pool allotment the Brewers would have a remaining bonus pool + 5% of $449,415. That money could be used to sign players selected between rounds 11-40 for beyond the $125K allowance.”

What was his pre-draft asking price?

the Brewers knew his pre draft price and are just now signing picks that will guarantee the price can't be met

So either Turang is signing for about a mil under his price or the Brewers really don't think he's coming

My gut tells me they’ve told him 3.6 was their last offer, and these two signings were announced to add to the pressure. I have no clue if he takes the 3.6, but I suspect that is his take it or leave it offer.

I’m pretty surprised they went this route. I updated the OP and the subject line. This thread will probably start getting a lot of attention the next few days. I expect it to start flying.

This is all part of the negotiations. He's no more or less likely to come than last week. I'd still put it at 10%.

Come on Ell, I’m on vacation and trying to be optimistic. This would be a good way to close my vacation out . I need some hope!
