Good job Matt. It's going to be interesting to see how this all plays out. I think more big upsets are coming and it's going to shake the polls up. Lets the head games begin (or continue).

Here's an idea Matt. Keep us posted each week on the top teams still in control of their own destiny to make the title game (final BCS ranking of 1 or 2).
Assuming SEC recent success guarantees an undefeated SEC team (and prolly a 1-loss SEC team) a spot in the title game, my top 6 "Destiny in Control" teams right now would be:
1. Aubie
2. LSU
3. Bama
4. South Carolina
5. Oregon
6. Ohio State
How 'bout yours, Matt?

The man when it comes to the post season.

quote:Matt, I know it doesn't mean a whole lot right now, and I understand how Nebraska will be ranked higher than Auburn and LSU in the coaches poll. But I don't see them higher in the first BCS poll. Their SOS is terrible in comparison.
6.Nebraska. Like OU, they’ll need help. The Big 12 as a conference is good, but they don’t play anybody top caliber until the Big12CG. They probably don’t get in over OSU, UO, or LSU/AU
7.Auburn. The SEC is top notch again and the SECW is even tougher. AU plays an play Clemson team and another top 10 caliber team in the SECCG if they are good enough to matter. All that should add up to a lock-tight computer ranking. Moreover, I think voters give them the benefit of the doubt in the human polls given the SEC’s recent dominance. They may not jump teams above them, but steal some votes.
8.LSU. LSU’s computer score would be even better than AU’s I think. They have already played the toughest schedule of any undefeated and it only gets worse. The SEC gets respect, but will Les Miles and his perceived lucky wins hurt him? I have a feeling no, unless it persists. I guarantee you the other top teams will have their share of close calls.

Thanks for a real nice thread for a change.

Matt, I think Ohio State would be out of the top 2 in the BCS standings if they came out today. Our computer score right now is not high at all. I think Boise would be ahead of us. Of course, as the season moves forward, Boise's computer score will get a lot worse, and ours will get much better, but that's just at the moment.

Good to see a post form you again matt.
I'm curious do the rankings you predicted reflect what you feel the BCS will be next week or simply a ranking of who you think has a shot at the NC game?
Also curious why you beleive the computers will drag TCU down. They are currently ranking very highly in the computer polls that I can see. We still have #10 Utah, #23 Airforce to play and Oregon St is moving up in the rankings who we already beat.

The rankings themselves are what I think they would be today...but I just eyeballed it because I don't think the snapshot is all that important. The comments refer to the long run.

At the end of the day, I don't see TCU's MWC schedule + Baylor and Oregon State being on the same level as an SEC, Pac10, or Big12. It is much better than Boise's schedule, but not near LSU's.

They officially come out next weekend (Oct 17),
Then why is ESPN having that BCS countdown show this week?
The show tonight is being billed as a "Preview Show", leading up to the weekly shows that start on the 17th.
