Correct me if I'm wrong but if he gets paid this in California he will pay the top federal tax bracket (35 %) and the top state bracket (10.3%) which is really close to 50%, especially when you consider he has no dependents or any other sizable write offs and would also have to pay SS and Medicare on a portion of that as well.

It's like winning to lotto, if you take the lump sum then you should divide that in half and that's about what you get.

IF he gets paid that in California, you may be correct. But, it's likely he won't be working (playing) in California this tax year.

Question...if Gausman does indeed turn the Dodgers down, does that give them flexibility in throwing more $ at Lee? Or is his offer on the table and that's it?

If they know they won't be spending on Gausman, then they'll have more money to use on Lee.

The Leblanc saga really caught me off guard...

Trust me when I say this, no body knows right now which way Lee is swaying. The last time I talked to anyone relating to him he said it would take 3.5 million.

If he signs for under 2.8 million tonight well...

It is never over until the Dodgers have submitted their final offer.

Take this with a grain of salt. But my inside source in dodgers front office just hinted that they knew zach's magic # and did NOT meet it with the offer sent to BR today

Just talked to Paul, he said he felt comfortable with Gausman, but that like Leblanc anything can happen.

Coach said Lee and Ranaudo are either way and he couldn't guess the outcome.

Said he was as shocked by Leblanc decision as any in his career.

It's gonna be a restless next five hours for sure.

Any info on Jones? Someone posted on here earlier about him going to JUCO....couldn't imagine why he would do this.

my uncle's best friend who works for the Dodgers said the last word he got within the last hour is that the Dodgers aren't close to Lee's magic number
