Or even good enough to get some experience in all the blow outs this year?

Did all the extra snaps over 4 years help JJ in the end?

What bothers me is why didn't we do that this/last year!! If ZM is good enough to be the starter next/this year, then why wasn't he good enough to start over JJ and JL?

He's talking about Gunner

regardless of how bad you may believe the QB's to be, you still have to throw down the field early to give the team a chance of beating a team like Alabama in that game. If he learned one thing this season, I hope it's this. Instead it seemed he was hopeing for a repeat of the Nov 5 game.

With the Money Miles makes he should know this.

Nothing againt you personnally --- but these types of comments baffle me..... is the incinuation that if we had a Head Coach making $150,000 a year you would expect and accept losing?

Miles earns his money putting up with idiots that bitch and moan about everything.... he's a positive, upbeat guy... the negativitiy of the average LSU fan (or the ones that voice their opinion here negatively) wears on a guy... it's a wonder he's WILLING to stay at LSU.

Fact is --- he's going to be a winning football coach wherever he is -- he's proven that already and he's twice turned down the opportunity to leave... LSU fans owe him a debt of gratitude not all this griping.

I hope what he means is that we are going to win ball games while having an aggressive passing attack that puts defenses on there heels.

Hmmm, so what changed in the "back end of the season"?

Both QB's proved on 11/5 that they were not capable of beating a team passing without a successfull running game. I like most would have like to see Lee on 1/9 but the facts are neither are very affective without a running game!! and we had no running game on 1/9... If anyone can show me one game this year were Lee or JJ was relied to win the game by passing and was sucessfull passing? The only games we could not run was Bama on 11/5 and it was the option that was differance Passing game was Horrible! and 1st half of uga, and the 1/9. Those were the only games we could not run over people. And the uga game HB punt return and defense forcing TO in 3rd quarter turned game around.

Mettenburger hopefully is answer to more balanced attack..

You can't believe a word Miles said. Two points:

A) Miles has constantly lied for two seasons about his quarterbacks. "We like to have two quarterback with two different skill sets." Of course, that was only when JJ was completely sucking during 2010, and when JJ was coming off of suspension in 2011. When Lee was in control, Miles loved the two qb's. When Jefferson had control, Miles avoided two qb's like the plague. So the real truth is that, Miles loved Jefferson.

B) If Miles didn't trust either of our quarterbacks to attempt the forward pass, then why did he recruit Mettenberger? He only allowed Mettenberger to pass against NW St, and he looked very good. Mettenberger got sick of handing off on fullback dives vs Ole Miss, so he audibled to a bootleg, and Miles made a national scene about it. So once again, Miles lied to Mettenberger when he told him that he would be given a fair shot at the 2011 starting qb job.

So we all know to never trust a word coming out of Miles mouth.

Two things will have to happen before I believe anything Miles says:

1) I have to see it;

2) I have to continue to see it even after Mett throws a couple of picks.

Until then I will take Miles' words for what their worth...nothing.

LSU does not need to be the second coming of the Green Bay Packers, but to get back to the way they looked against WVU would be nice. That was one of the best offensively called games I've seen in a while. The td to OB Jr. on 3rd and 1 was money.

Good god yes b/c is smart for a coach to say his 2 senoir QB suck!!! bet that would do good for moral!! And man he stupid for letting A sophmore QB who has only seen Junior college play sit for a year and learn from Krags.... Man do you people ever think before you talk.. Mett will be given a chance this year... Coaches were tring to avoid throwing a Mett to the wolves with our brutal scedule this year... So coaches relied on our big oline and running game, and D to be the strengths... Man you know there can be reasons that are not Lies behind everything... Coaching is about making decisions and fans don't have to agree with all. And frankly with the QB play the last 4 years i like the fact he is not rushing Mett like we had to do with Lee!!

Those are all good points except for one major one:

Lee did not suck this past year.

Sorry, but Miles has well established himself to be a liar and until I see (not hear) otherwise I simply refuse to take what he says seriously.

Edit: I should say liar and/or stubborn. I lean to and.

Not for JJ personally but was happy for the team when he was suspended and gutted when heard of his return.

Many of us here were in touch and it has nothing to do w/ monday qbing or 20/20 retrospect.

Yes we could have and personally i wish we would have... But thats the coaches call and there is no right or wrong answer.. You can't blame CLM for being precautions with mett.. I sure he wishes he could have been with Lee or JJ as well..

Not saying either is right or wrong.

The rumors about why he didn't play as much this year are out there. One is from a pretty solid source.

I'm not one who spreads such things, but I'll share it for a few seconds, if you want.

Miles full quote in TP this morning: "offensively, graduating two quarterbacks, there will be a definite shift in philosophy, an opportunity to be more balanced, pass-run combination, than we were in the back end of the season." If Miles learned anything from the BCSNC I hope it's this. Even Alabama knows you have to throw the ball downfield early and often at this level of football. I guess they really did have that little faith in the QB duo this season.

I'll believe it when I see it. He is a Bo Schembechler disciple. His current philosophy is in his genetics. It will be hard to change.

OOhh so we passed for over 3000 yards in 2006 because he is genetically ingrained to run the option....that makes sense
