well the true test comes this Saturday vs Arkansas.

WE were over matched by Bama, but destroyed Ole Miss.

Oline has been bad against Wisky, Aubbie

can't judge anything by those games. Was pre Orgeron
when we ran a more predictable offense.

First 3rd down against Bama, Malone gets worked and Etling sacked in a quick hurry. Had no time to throw.

No this was a coaching/scheme issue. There is no way you allow Tim Williams who one of the elite pass rushers in the country, a one on one match in passing situation. Malone should have gotten help with a back or with a chip by a back or TE before releasing out for a pass. Also complete & half rollouts should have been used to buy Etling more time.

This isn't rocket science yet time & time again we see game plans against Alabama that are drawn up on stone tablets. Yes, the pistol & 3/4 WR sets are used but it is only used to cover up really simple play calling concepts that Bama & Saban easily sniff out. Our players especially the lineman are put in no position to succeed against the Tide.

The play where Boutte got knocked on his arse is an example of a good concept but piss poor design.

Yes, Etling gets pressure from Boutte getting badly but look at the influence the play action fake has on the MLB & safety inside the box. They both bite & take false steps in the wrong direction. Play action, by design, is to get LBs & safeties out of position. That works here yet there is no receiver in the combination of routes being run, attacking the area where the MLB & safety are reasonable for. Had the Tigers had a TE (Desean Smith) lined up tight to the wide side, running a streak screaming down the seam, he would have been wide open immediately. Etling could have throw to him as soon as he completes his drop, giving him an outlet to beat the immediate pressure. Instead, the play action has no effect on the Bama CBs who are playing man coverage with their backs to the fake. As a result no one is open, Etling gets flushed from the pressure & ultimately has to throw the ball away. Its a wasted 1st down play at midfield.

No mention of left tackle position. I wonder why?

That play illustrates when one guy doesn't do his job the whole play collapses. Boutte got trucked and that was that.

Normally pro football focus knows their shite but they're so wrong right here it's silly. We don't have a top 20 oline. I've also seen pro football focus call Sam Bradford a top 3 nfl qb earlier this year so I guess they're just having a bad season.

"Oline has been bad against Wisky, Aubbie, and Bama. Basically they have sucked against any good D."

The Tigers scored a combined 27 points and 2 offensive touchdowns in those 3 games.

That article was one of the All-Time complete and total BS pieces of sports journalism I've ever read!

LSU OL is not even the best in the SEC/SEC West/Louisiana or SE Louisiana.
