Disappointing Analysis, Carl
Urban Meyer had 2 weeks to prepare for LSU.
LSU showed it did not belong deserve to be ranked #4 in the Nation. Florida showed they should not hold the #1 ranking.
Urban Meyer came into Tiger Stadium with a Heisman winning, 4 year QB & 2 Offensive starters that have very close to Trindon Holliday speed. All were held far below their season averages. And you mentioned superior lineman, at least this year. Why then couldn't that #1 ranked team that averaged 45.5 points per game, only score 1 Touchdown against LSU? I didn't see you toss out the "Meyer's misuse of talent" card. Or is that reserved for "Les Miles & Co."?
Les Miles came into the game with a QB who had exactly 7 College Starts prior to this game. No question he struggled. Remembering the "Curley Shuffle" of the 1990's, do you think it wise for LSU to move in that direction? You commented that LSU should have an experienced QB but doesn't. If you've followed LSU's recruiting of the QB position, the name you were searching for is Ryan Perrilloux. Why is he not at LSU Carl?
Really? How can a Coach be Outcoached if his defense "Played well enough to win" Carl? Apparently you are under the impression that "Les Miles & Co." only coach Offense.
No. What is really Scary is you feeding the "Fire 'da Coach" mentality of the younger people on this board. Take a good hard look at exactly who LSU A.D. Joe Alleva hired as Football Coaches at Duke:
1. Carl Franks: 7-45
2. Ted Roof 6-45
3. David Cutcliffe 7-11
Well, that's a cozy 20 Wins to 100 Losses ratio isn't it Carl? Does Alleva look like he's ready to pick a new LSU Football coach?

He and his staff outcoached Miles and Co. Did I say that already?

The scariest thing for LSU fans right now is the prospect of this harsh reality: Miles and his staff already know what they've got and can't find ways when they're scripting game plans to work around the shortcomings.

I am as disappointed as the next person but we tend to be too binary in our approach as LSU fans and we have to realize that it is neither a rational nor practical approach in life

Geeez...
Sounds like to me, after reading some of these posts, that we should just go ahead and forfeit the rest of the games and add Les & Co. to the mounting national unemployment numbers. C'mon! Miles is a liar? Give me a break. We were beaten by THE best team in the country. THIS team held FL, averaging 36+ points per game, to just 13 points. Although they do have to learn to live with it, the ONLY touchdown easily could have been called back after the DB was accosted by the WR. I believe the defense is better than most have given them credit for to date. Chavis' system seems to be coming around...no more dumb penalties, though.
Try JL? Really? Try JL? Been there, done that, made a Georgia DE a first round pick with that.
I do agree with Carl that Les and Gary Crowten need to decide what this offense CAN do well, without being predictable, and let 'em go with it. JJ - if you have nothing and you can't run with the ball, hit the tuba player with it. No more coverage sacks.
All is not lost. So I ask...please put the slingshots down...and back away.
See...it's all better now.
GEAUX TIGERS!!

Forget RP, already, and forget the officials.
We're going to have to develop a coherent offensive strategy around the talent we have on campus.
Watching JJ and trying to project his progress, Ihave serious doubts we should be building the offense around his skills. RS is a HUGE talent, but he's a project as a QB, too. It's almost easier to imagine him running the show than JJ, if he can develop a little as a passer.
However, I suspect our future is playing High School ball somewhere

We where looking for this!
And we got nothing like it. I hope we can put it together before it is to late.

Play RS and there will be no more scripting around the shortcomings.

well, we all know that based on the resumes of the guys on the sideline and in the booth, the tigers aren't coached by amateurs .. that being said, are we starting to look at another gerry dinardo situation .. only with far better assistants ?? remember dinardo's ego that ran off carl reese and morris watts and replaced them with lou tepper and scott mcconnell (the offensive equivalent of out two-headed DC monster last year) ??

WE ARE NOT THAT GOOD!
But, we are not that bad either. The defense played a heck of a game by being on the field for so long. Kept Florida to under 14 pts, awesome.
But why the insecurity in the play calling on offense. We have two of the best WR in the country, although when the ball was thrown to them, dropped. But you have to get the ball to them more, so they can make up for the dropped ones. I don't understand why Jefferson, who had time, didn't heave the ball down field 40 or more yards and let the reciever react, thats why their good, and tall and strong. If it gets intercepted, big deal, its like a punt. And at least at the end of the game, win or lose you can look back on your offensive play and say, you know what, we tried and it just didn't work. At least you tried! This kid glove thing with Jefferson is driving me and several other fans crazy. Like someone posted earlier, at least JL scored points.

Catahoula, you nailed it man! I'm glad you brought up Miles' speaking, cause last year or the year before, I listened to Miles' Monday press conference and decided to count the um's and uh's that he said. That day the presser was I guess 15 or 20 mins long and when Miles uttered the 300th um or uh, I stopped counting. It is really unbelievable listening to this blockhead try to speak! He starts muttering the " I uh um uh's" before he either has anything to say or has a clue what he is gonna say. It is sickening, and it translates to what we have been seeing on the field, especially the last year and a half.

Plain and simple, LSU has equal athletes to Florida, USC, anybody. and though folks get tired of hearing this, the way they are being coached up is the difference. people get tired of hearing about Saban, but look at his team yesterday, they looked just like the LSU teams of old, he knows what to do with his athletes, the schemes and shite they are running for LSU sucks and that is all it is.

GUYS!!!
This is exactly what it seems to be. How do you take a bunch of NFL-prospect studs, and turn them into duds (i.e., basically the WORST offense in college football)??
Let me ask this, do you really believe guys like Jordan Jefferson or even Jarrett Lee, both of whom have a rocket for arms, would suck this bad playing for Texas Tech, Houston, Oklahoma? Do you further believe that we need to run MORE gimmick "wild cat" formations to beat teams?
LSU thumped Mississippi State and V-Tech 2 years ago by running basic, I-Formation, 2 tight-end sets, SMASH-MOUTH, Tiger football!
Now, this offense appears to be taking Twitter requests from fans on which play to run next (this is when they can actually get a play off)!
You know where I am going with this? You have to TRY this hard to be this bad.
Where are the quick-slants, the post routes, the 5-yard curl routes to Dixon, the crossing patterns, the DIVE? On 3rd and 1 yard to goal, why is Jefferson handing the ball to Scott on the 5 YARD LINE?
You want to know why Jefferson is getting sacked? WHERE are his options? Where are the 5 yard hot routes, the safety valves, the 10 yard quick slant, etc.? THEY DON'T exist because all the receivers are 20 - 30 yards DOWN THE FIELD running low-success routes! Jefferson has to wait for something to develop! Oh and before the ball was snapped? The linemen were sitting in a 3-point stance waiting for their blocking assignments from JJ's voice over 93K fans with 5 seconds on the play clock.
YES! The culprit of this disaster is GARY CROWTON! Please take the time to research this guy's history at BYU, Oregon, Chicago Bears, etc. It's the same, fizzling, predictable, impotent patterns of failure - OVER AND OVER AND OVER again! And now WE are eating it! Like I said, you have to TRY to be this bad! And Les Miles is a fool to continue to allow this guy to make the calls.
Don't tell me JJ, Scott, Lafell, and co. can't make plays. They can! This guy is running LSU football INTO the ground and it is hurting future prospects. What RB wants to play at LSU when your current stud RB's can't even move the ball?
I suggest anyone questioning my rant to review the game film yourself. I'm starting to wonder if Crowton is even sober when making the play-calling! He really can't be this bad?? Is that possible?

So basically you are saying if a coach is in a professional football league of any kind it automatically makes him an established big name coach?
