re: Offense Should Be Elite

Offensively we have continued to run up the middle on second and long when it’s been proven to be a losing strategy. Especially since Dellinger went down, we have failed to change strategies even when it completely goes against what strengths we have.
Defensively we have continued to trot Gilbert, Ryan and Burns out there when it’s been proved again and again to be a losing strategy. Perhaps we have no one better, but this idea doesn’t make me feel any better about our team.
How is it this is the best we can do? How is it that we can’t plan better than this? We seemed to beg Ryan to stay. Why? Gilbert plays like he’s 120 pounds. Do we have no one better? Why? We have no depth on the oline. Why? Is Mubenga the best we can do. Injuries happen, but we haven’t prepared for them despite a portal that can help. Why?
The biggest problem with the aforementioned problems isn’t the players. They all have limitations. The problem is moreso the inability of the coaches to put us in a better position.
Kelly is right. They have to coach better. But simply repeating it again and again isn’t going to do it. You have to work better to coach better. Are all our coaches doing that? The past three games suggest they are not.
Kelly likes to yell at the players to get them to do their jobs, but he first should take a closer look at the job he’s been doing recently. The trend is not promising.
Dude yes to all of this. Like yesterday when Hilton jumps way too early on that pass and Kelly screams at him on the sidelines. I have no problem with Kelly yelling at a player and being frustrated. I was too. But at the same time, I think Hilton has proven who he is. Taylor, Kyren, AA, Zavion, TreyDez, and CJ have all proven to be much more reliable options than him. So why the f&%$ are we even throwing him a 50/50 ball in a close must win game. And I'm sure people want to say "well Nuss shouldn't throw it to him." But why is he even on the field? Very few college players are without flaws. They're kids. When you pay coaches as much as LSU does you expect the coaches to put the kids in the best positions possible to hide the flaws and maximize the strengths.

A second half adjustment from Texas A&M to shut down the comeback/hitch routes to the field side, has changed the offense completely.
Once A&M took that away it exposed the true weakness of from LSU’s base 11 personnel.. The weakness is Daniels/Lacy are the same player. Anderson/Thomas are the same player. Defenses know they cannot throw deep. The lack of development/production of Hilton/Sampson is crippling to this offense.

First 6 games to now way different. Nuss digress has been easy to see. No QB u got nothing but what we got. Mediocrity

If your QB doesn't run at all in college your offense will not be effective. He doesn't have to run much just a few times so the defense doesn't come in crashing every play. It is simple math, 11 defenders vs 10 offensive players.

Unfortunately agree finding more than two elite players on this team is impossible and is like trying last week to believe this team could go to Atlanta for anything other than visiting tourist sites.
And don’t even go there with that word when referencing out illustrious multi-millionaire coach from that powerhouse Notre Dame.

Elite? When will this take place? Like they have a couple more games left. When are they going to gain this experience? I don't like this kinda talk. Yes we should be better but they were saying that at the beginning of this year. "we gonna run all over people with our OL". And once again we get smashed. Same thing was said about FLA State when we played them and we got smashed. Let's just wait and see.

See last year when 3 first round picks on offense meant 3 losses.
Three first round draft picks on the offensive side of the ball that scored 24, 49 and 28 points in the three losses, while the defense gave up 45, 55 and 48 points in said losses respectively. Really hard to blame the offense when the defense was putrid.

LSU hired offensive genius CBK and no matter who the OC is, you will have CBK's genius offense.

Actually offensively you have marginal talent and really poor gameplans...poorly executed. The OL has not and I don't believe can control the line of scrimmage which is more than bious on the running game...which is almost non-existent.
This is a poor team offensively and defensively with no more than 4-5 players of championship quality.

Maybe Mike Denbrock was better than people realized???
No we run basically the same plays we ran with Denbrock the difference is we had a QB that was a one in a million skillset.
Does Underwood have the same physical skills as Daniels?
If so (and I think he does, but not sure about it), is that maybe why we didn't alter the scheme this year?
I mean, Nuss is a straight pocket passer, he maybe can run some but he's not a dual threat. You'd think they would change some things up, but if the plan is to bring Jayden 2.0 in next year, maybe you just practice what he will run, so the rest of the lineup is more comfortable next year.
And for what it's worth, I think Durham is quick enough to do well in that offense, especially if the defense is worried about the QB running too. As bad as it was against Fla, he had 91 yds rushing. He should be a 1K yd back next year.

They know what we’re running almost all the time. The fact that we even produce anything is a testament to the players.

Yeah I disagree. Nuss is definitely an above average QB in my opinion. He struggles with decision making with our predictable playcalling but he’s on the same level as many of the QBs of the top teams.
Nuss has elite arm talent but his mistakes lower his effectiveness substantially. He grades out average IMO when you factor everything.

we don't have the talent moron

This is a good point. Doesn’t explain our lack of scoring in red zone. Don’t know how you don’t just run Pimpton and Green out there to play jump ball. That and we need the O line to not false start… it’s coach and scheme issue.

The oc sucks. Been saying this all yr.
Nussmeier is a backup QB with a limited skill set. The OC can put Nussmeier in position to make the plays, he can't do it for him.

quote:Underwood is not close to being as quick and elusive as Daniels is. Thats not a knock on Underwood because no one is. Daniels biggest strength while running was his ability to make a move on a dime and quickly return to top speed.
Let me ask the board this- Does Underwood have the same physical skills as Daniels?
