I said at the beginning of the season I would be happy with a 10-2 season IF we were at least competitive against Bama.
We were not competitive against Bama at all. That being said, if he wins out, including the bowl game I will accept this as a decent enough season for this year since we would have come very close to an 11-1 season.

Fair analysis.

LSU should NEVER win less than 10 games a year, with the 13 we are virtually guaranteed to play. There are way too many positives with this program to finish with single digit wins.

“ i’m amazed”

If you were amazed by 10 wins, then exactly what were you when we had to coach who average 10 wins for 11 years? LSU has feasted on hard schedules for the past 20 years.

I think 10 wins, when you play in the SEC West, is a nice accomplishment, but I don’t think it’s amazing. Why does it seem that we have significantly lowered our expectations for LSU football. We would’ve had a 10 win season in 2015 if not for the McNeese cancellation and we played a top 5 SOS. If that game had not been canceled and if we had won 10 games, would you have seen that season as amazing?

Not amazed with 10 wins in general, but rather against this schedule.

I did not think O was a good hire. I did not think Ensminger was a good choice for OC. I do not believe in the "CEO" head coaching model Alleva is experimenting with. I expected losses to Miami, Auburn, State, Georgia, and Bama this year.
Don't forget, we hired and fired an OC in there, who did NOT get a full year of "benefit of doubt", partly because he was a volatile a-hole.

quote:

O gets my support if we hit 10 wins.
Also don't forget where we came from. We fired a championship winning coach (who was declining IMHO) based of the offense and not on the 10 wins metric. A 10 win metric holds water for only so long AND must be paired with a significantly improved offense.

quote:

I did not think Ensminger was a good choice for OC
It's not horrible. It's even pretty good, at times. The problem is it is bad... at times; even against lesser talented teams. That's no where good enough.

Yes, the offense is hamstrung. If you combine: a first time starting QB, new WRs, the multiple problematic OL, the lack of stud RB, a new system... again, and our schedule I'm surprised our offense is where it is. But my surprise, or anyone elses comparison to predictions, is NOT the metric we should use. But I've seen little else of adaptations to the above mentioned hamstringing issues. And that is the tell of the tape. Anything else is a hope and a prayer.

That's not good enough.

Speaking of 'good enough' what's good enough against LTU for a win shouldn't be the goal either. Good enough is never, ever, good enough.

We are 100% on track to meet the metric I set before the season, which looked all but impossible.

We are on track, but not there yet.

And 10 wins did not look impossible. That's a false narrative.

And yet, O has addressed many positions of need and has this team on track for a 10 or 11 win season. To say I'm amazed is an understatement. Although this loss to Bama was a fricking pathetic farce, I'm going to honor what I said before the season: O gets my support if we hit 10 wins.

And what if we finish this year at 9-4?

This year’s offense has been a breath of fresh air compared to last year and years past. Excluding the last performance vs the greatest team this century.

Then frick O, nuke it, and start over.

Alleva should be fired no matter what.

That has always been the issue with declaring the season a success prematurely. So far, yes it has been a good season. But, there are games to play still.

Agreed, but my benchmarks are clear. 10 wins or else. Next year, 10 wins and offensive overhaul or else.

But, it's a little deflating thinking of what could have been with a better offense which is what Coach O promised to deliver.

It's a lot deflating, IMO, and it was so obvious to see heading into the game.

That's what bothers me so much about it. We saw it against LA Tech, Florida, Georgia, Moo State... and then it was so much worse than I even feared possible against Alabama.

Just a drubbing.

This is just my humble opinion so take it for what it's worth, but ...

Doesn't equal this ...

O has earned my patience.

Seems a bit contradictory to me.
