I see these “sit Nuss” posts as veiled ways of saying “I want to see the backup to see if he’s better”.

No, they're saying it because BK said there was an injury and was waiting for the bye for him to sit and get better. Rational people wondered why he wouldn't just sit out this week with Southeastern and get a jump on progress before Ole Miss. Then the bye week could be spent recovering even more.

I think most of us would rather Nuss have an actual medical problem that is hindering his performance because then time off should help him at least get back to last year's form. So if he really is hurt, then BK shouldn't let him practice or do anything all week to get better. Has nothing to do with any backup.

Just stop with the stupid "if he's really hurt" crap.As if injured players haven't played before. Even QBs.

I say sit him 1st quarter and see how that goes. Have him on standby if we go down 2 scores.

If his injury is so severe that it is significantly affecting the offensive performance, then he needs to sit not just Saturday, but all week, to heal up as much as possible for the remainder of the season. However, if is injury is not severe enough to warrant missing practice or a game against the weakest opponent on LSU's schedule, then BK's brining it up as an excuse for the poor offensive performance is completely baseless.

If the guy is truly hurt, you don't press him to play against SLU. You get him as well as possible for the remaining 8 games on your schedule.

We know the backups aren't better. There is not one talking head that has seen practice that even remotely suggests that either of the two QBs is on Nuss's level. If we start a backup in the 1st quarter and it goes to sh*t, put Nuss in until the game is decided.
Playing the Devil's advocate...

...not a bad idea at all. If our backup QB goes in and stinks it up against Hammond High, then at least we know something that we didn't really know before - we cannot depend on a backup QB to help out in real games if they're ever needed.

Testing the mettle of the backup gives CBK some insight into how to manage the rest of the season, given the ability (or lack thereof) of our backup.
