He’s a good QB. I wish he could at least give us what Burrow could give us with his legs but he’s still a solid college QB.

Why is it relevant? His stats are great. Mahomes does it all of the time from numerous arm angles. You're 30 years behind the times.

Dude. Both of you are making valid points in this debate but comparing Nuss to Mahomes? Come on man. Yeah, Mahomes does that successfully but that doesn’t mean every QB can.

He does it all of the time. Nuss' accuracy has been solid against both USC's. Whatever issues Nuss has had, throwing off back foot has not been one of them.

comparing Nuss to Mahomes
There is no comparison and I never remotely implied they're equals. However, we are seeing many QBs in collegiate level throwing from many angles and arm slots and sometimes off balance. The position is evolving. Bottom line is that the criticism is currently irrelevant. That's all I'm saying.

Being able to throw off platform is not the same as having a bad habit of throwing off your back foot.

I’d he could just trust himself and get rid of the ball a little earlier

How dare they think a white man can do what a black man can right?

i think Nuss is playing very well

but christ almighty that endzone pick had me thinking some things about him

that was two-fold bad - he got completely fooled and then threw absolutely shite ball

I don't know why you're getting downvoted because your point is valid, it just doesn't address the topic- is it a relevant criticism at this point. The off platform throws include throwing off of the back foot, especially when QBs are struggling with sufficient time to deliver the ball. But yes, throwing off of the back foot is not the preferred technique.

I believe wholeheartedly that he can, but they aren't letting him is my guess. He showed against Nichols that he could tuck and run effectively...actually decent speed....and decent speed is all you need if running at opportune times.

Nuss really has been great imo. Just has to see pressure and get it out quicker. He won’t get away throwing off his back foot against good teams.

This is due to coaches pounding in their head protect the ball...just like JD did in 22'. I thought it was JD, but I guarantee now that it was BK holding him back.

The Nuss we are seeing this year is nothing like we saw in the past where he was not afraid to push it down the field and take chances....now you see a more tentative passer due to concerns of turning it over. At some point he will gain more confidence and feel much more comfortable in the pocket, and likely start running more as well. He could possibly get to 3500-4000 yards this year with 35 to 40 TDS.......which would be a great first year starting...but if he comes back I think you will see a savvy veteran next year with much more leadership skills.

It tends to happen with inexperienced qbs, especially in tight high pressure conference road games. Even great qbs make mistakes. Hell, Joe Burrow could have probably put the game away yesterday, but made a bad throw to an open guy with a couple minutes left that would have given them a first down. Instead, they had to punt, and KC kicked a game winning field goal at the end.

Nuss will get better and better, and he will start running as he gets more comfortable. He is a gamer for sure, but if you remember, even Burrow was pretty mediocre for most of his first year starting...and I believe Nuss is playing better than he did early on. You could tell when Burrow started feeling comfortable, and I think you will see the same from Nuss in the second half of the season.

Game winning drives in half the games he has started. Sure. He needs to be more clutch. Where the heck do you people come from??

Watch the 4th Qtr drives in game 1 and game 3. He has to perform better with the game on the line. We are lucky that the refs bailed us out in the SC game, because he would have lost that game.

Those opportunities were definitely there. The defense has no fear of Nuss running.

He got bailed out big time by that personal foul

That was just a horrendous decision and a god awful throw that should have sealed the game for SC.

But, sometimes you get lucky and live to fight another day

Anyone down voting this post has their head up their butt. Nuss needs to make better throws around the endzone and especially in the 4th qtr. This is my only concern at the moment with his play.

But Sloan/BK aren’t making it any easier on him. I was really surprised that they couldn’t scheme some more of our WRs open for some easy reads and explosive plays. Any good OC should be able to do that at least a couple of times a game with our WRs.

He likes to wait for routes to get outside the numbers and is reluctant to pull the trigger in the middle of the field. When he turns that corner it’s going to be lethal. Think we saw the start of it in the second half this weekend
