ok...but it wasn't a split
You realize that makes it worse since Harris got benched for such abysmal play and we scored TDs on our next 3 possessions after he went out, right?

he SEC was also much better last year
You're right, Harris is obviously the superior QB.

I don't think this board is giving enough weight to the difference in OCs. Harris had to play under a joke of an offensive philosoph, that only threw in guaranteed passing situations. That is very hard to do. Meanwhile, Etling had a scheme that used the shite out of TEs finally, and threw on 1st/2nd down.
Etling has looked better, but I sure would have liked to have seen Harris with the playcalling Ensminger has done. I think he'd be a lot more comfortable and in rhythm.

Thanks for the info Brandon. Does that exclude Harris's snaps from the 1st 2 games? it may be more like 45-47% otherwise....which is a BIG difference.

The only 2 people Harris threw to were Malachi and dural.
To be fair to Harris he tried to complete throws to LF7 out of the backfield but bc the screen pass isn't a Hail Mary pass, he couldn't complete them.

Did you remove Harris's stats out?

Here he is again I know what you are trying to imply.

BH has all the tools but he's just not a gamer. I think Etling, who is decidedly less talented, showed up for every game and played within himself where Harris did not. DE definitely had a better pocket presence. He was very good at going through his progressions, not just keying on the first or second options. DE threw the ball away instead of forcing it for an interception or taking a drive killing sack. When he was flushed, his efforts to pick up yards cannot be denied. DE just played harder and wanted it more. Those intangibles make a difference and make the players around you better. That effort and interception in Green Bay after all the preseason hype will always haunt me when I think about BH.

a 54% completion percentage v/s a 60% is a huge difference
If the new OC can get that up to 65%...

Why blow it up to start a guy with ZERO college experience?
Its not blowing anything up. If a QB stands out in spring and is head and shoulders above the rest you start him. 18 or 24.

Laugh all you want, but its true.
Etling is only slightly better than Harris.
Hopefully LSU will have a new QB in 2017.

Transplant Etling's brain and heart into Harris' body and we have the perfect QB.

Lol
How quickly people forget about Jarrett lee. He started as a true freshmen and he was fricking awful. Literally set records with his awfulness. He actually had some talent when he came here but was in way over his head

Brandon Harris after the Bama game last year
86/173 (49.7%) ---- 1199 yards ---- 6.9 yds/attempt --- 5 tds --- 8 int --- .625 td/int ratio
2-4 as a starter (frick giving him a win for Jack St)
Danny Etling
60% ---- 1906 yards ----- 7.9 yds/attempt ---- 9 tds----- 4 int ----- 2.25td/1 int ratio ----- 135 rating
6-3 as a starter

Nearly identical stats
While having identical win pct
Identcial pts/game
And, Etling had the joy of playing in our new improved offense, yet they want to say Etling is light years ahead.
