A winless Missouri team just swept A&M. Don’t take any thing for granted.

I fully expect us to sweep. But lets not count our eggs just yet in this conference.

Disagree. As long as we don't get swept, we'll likely be a national seed. We'll be a top 4 SEC team and that will be enough to be a national seed.

There’s more to the equation. 3 teams are right on our arse. We gotta account for what they do as well.

Just curious, but how can we know for sure how many wins it will take? A couple of people last night said 20 wins in the regular season would do it.

20 is always a guarantee. It is, in effect, the magic number for SEC teams. There is no question. That number mattered more when the SEC wasn't as dominant.

Now, with the SEC being as good as it is, 19 guarantees a national seed, 18 (against the right opponents) is a national seed. 17 is usually a host team.

LSU wins 1 and they are almost assuredly a national seed. LSU wins 2 and it's guaranteed.

If LSU wins one to finish 18-12 and Georgia, Vandy, and Auburn all win at least 2 of 3 to end up 18-12 or better, LSU likely is in 6th position for national seeding. I’m not sure they will give that many Top 8 spots to the SEC.

Don’t see why they wouldn’t. SEC has been projecting to get 6 top 8 seeds for a few weeks now and we’ve gotten 5 before when the conference wasn’t as strong as it this year. Even if the below scenario played out where warrennolan has us projected to go 1-2 next weekend we’d be one of the 6 SEC top 8 seeds IMO

But in that scenario, Auburn, Georgia and Vandy all have higher RPI’s putting us in “6th place in the SEC” teams to select. We don’t want to end at 18-12

They’re probably taking 2 ACC teams and 1 West Coast team in the Too 8 so we don’t want to be tied for 6th place.

2 wins this weekend puts us at 19 and it’s unlikely all three (GA, AU, VU) sweep.

3 wins locks us into no worse than 3rd in the SEC.

And the projection you cited above on this is very odd. It has us losing 2 of 3 at SC, but Auburn winning 2 of 3 at Ole Miss (a much tougher opponent who really needs to win). But even though I think 18 could get us in, if we did end up tied with Vandy, Auburn and Georgia, whoever did worst of that group in the tournament (going one and done) would probably not get a national seed.

Let's not take chances. Win series you're supposed to win, never get swept. Good rule of thumb for SEC, difficult to do

I’m sure Tamu fans were saying the same about Mizzou this weekend…

What do they say, chickens and counting before they hatch?

A win today would have been great. I think 18 could do it though

Auburn just totally destroyed USC, if we don't win 2 out of 3 it would be ashamed.

18-12 in this SEC (1 win vs Cocks) would give us a great shot at a national seed.

I’m sure that would do it, we are number one in the baseball America poll.
