I've been lurking , reading and learning here the ways of TD. I feel motivated to make my first post finally.

We should be 3-0 with most any previous year's defense. Nothing has changed player wise in fitting the scheme or in experience on defense. How can anyone here believe we win Saturday when our defense will give up 40 again? Not 1 team on our schedule will drop less than 40 on us for rest of year with the way the tiger d has played.

In 2014, LSU allowed 570 yards in back to back weeks to Miss St and Auburn. They won the next 3 games and should have beaten an Alabama team that went to the playoffs.

Will this happen again? Who knows? But history suggests teams can improve through adversity.

Had you actually learned anything, you’d know threads like this are to be avoided, not emulated. Chicken....add another Rantard to the list.

We changed schemes and coaching philosophy, have an incredibly inexperienced defense, and no spring or enough fall practices to implement. We also were plagued with injuries before MSU game. Unlike Aranda’s scheme, Bo takes the pressure off the front seven and places it firmly on the secondary. The change from 3-4 to 4-3 is very tough on LBs & DBs. It’s assignment football where you have to know what you’re doing but also be enough of an athlete to get it done (i. e., tackle). Tackling is huge within Bo’s system, especially at the safety and ILB position groups. Also, the 4-3 is most beneficial when you have a dominating DLine with two All American DTs. While our DLine is good we really are lacking that Brockers, B. Logan, Dorsey, Woods, Williams, or Lavalias. Pelini’s system requires the center of the field to house his best players from DT-ILB-S. This is an odd year where we have lost nearly everyone. I think Pelini deserves his fair share of criticism but he needs to get his personnel in, the guy can flat out recruit too so he deserves some time. Hopefully they practiced the fundamentals last week and this week are trying to implement a more player friendly scheme-role so the secondary isn’t getting turned around and we can finally play complimentary football.

Not to be a Debbie downer, but I can’t see a true freshman QB facing an all SEC schedule light up the score board. I hope I’m wrong, but logic tells you there will be a drop-off from a 4th yr junior with years in the system to an 18 year old.

My biggest bitch with the results of our D thus far is that it took 3 games into the season that include 2 losses to sec bottom feeders to figure out that they needed to come up with a more player friendly scheme. Is this new scheme going to be successful? Probably not right away. It would have been nice to start with a player friendly scheme to start with day 1 and add to it relative to what they could handle mentally. Looks like they didn't scrimmage or compete live enough to expose this enormous weakness.

There is virtually no way this defense can play worse. Did Missouri punt?

With any progression on defense this team should easily be 3-0 then 4-0 after usce but this isn't the case. People say we are inexperienced and that bo will need a cop of recruiting years to find players that fit the 4-3 d....it's just sad that teams are very mortal this year and we let an opportunity go by this year because our defense is literally the worst I've seen at lsu, probably ever. The lack of reckless abandon on the field is sad for a team who won the title last year. This defense is that bad. Everybody was in the same boat because of covid but are not that bad...Lsu staff seriously dropped the ball on defense this year wth.

I think they took some time to implement a simplified zone scheme with the 1 & 2 deep personnel. We will probably see more of a cover 2 or Tampa 2 from here on out with very limited or situational man coverage concepts. We have got to keep everyone in front of us right now and let the DLine t-off. If an opposing team is only going to field 3 or less WRs we should automatically blitz. Keep the pressure on the OLine so they have to keep a TE in the game and not stretch us out. DBs need to understand that the zone concept sets you up for big hits on crossing routes or inside slants and they need to make the play.

We better play 3 deep and if we are man we better have a free over the top. Don't go quarter quarter half....play man and 2 deep on top in a dime look with a nose and 2 ends and 2 lbers....
