He said there are provisional designs for a Basketball operations with a practice court and offices that connects to the PMAC

Let me clarify: I could have heard him wrong on the practice court but he did say this project would be connected to the PMAC

We built a practice facility, but nothing else, which was short-sighted. Will wade wants all the basketball operations centralized at that location. They need connected offices, weight rooms, etc. He’s talked about how inefficient the current setup is and how much extra walking his players have to do.

Wonder what kind of surprise in scheduling he is talking about.

Apparently the film room, locker room, and coaches offices are all in completely different areas. Will Wade went on a great rant a while back on 104.5 about the layout costing them x minutes a day (like 50-ish), x hours a week, and x days a year. It was great and clearly Wades biggest frustration with trying to be great here.

Playing NECK came up mid season & it was my understanding then that band members approached the band's administrators who quite strongly rejected the request. The band wants to play it but were threatened if they did.

This is a stupid comment. It’s the idiots at the School of Music who are the problem. Move the band back under the control of the athletic department by labeling it a “spirit group” like the cheerleaders. Problem solved.

Someone should tell the band they’re in the stadium to entertain and hype the players.

We don’t want to hear them play flight of the bumblebee. If the team and the fans want neck. You play neck, especially when the AD ok’s it.

Marching band nerds thinking they're the real stars of the show? No way!

That was actually a basis of a question and I forget his answer but I think that led into the adjacent facility

The practice facility is the first priority to Wade. The design in the building that was opened over ten years ago in Trent Johnson's first year has significant needs. Wade correctly wants all basketball operations in one building. Currently the team must go to different buildings for coaches offices, weights, and practice court/lockers. These buildings are not close and reduce time efficiency which is important.

Hopefully, construction could begin within one year if fundraising meets goals.

Any major changes to the PMAC will likely be many years down the road, IMO.

Talked about a surprise in scheduling in the coming weeks

Maybe we will scrap rice for a real opponent if we are going to play at NRG. Or just play rice at home.

The surprise is probably the announcement of a home and home with Michigan/USC

It’s worth noting that of course the students in the band want to play neck as much as everyone wants to hear it. It’s band leadership that’s the problem.

While I appreciate Woodie giving the green light, the band director and assistant band director actually report to someone else. I would like to know who, precisely, punted on this idea. Was it higher up in the music department, the president of the university, someone along that line of management, or did the band director or assistant take that upon themselves? Would be curious if someone has any actual information about this.

fricking nobody talking about his comments on weed.

He needs to change the rules ASAP to reflect what other universities are doing. It’s a damn shame we aren’t on equal playing field in this regard.
