Let's keep this simple. If OSU wins out and does it like they done all year. LSU has to win the next two (A&M by a large margin). And then will have to beat UGA by at least 20 in the seccg.the commitee will focus more on the present than the past I'm afraid.

As long as we win, everyone's watching - from here on out, it will always be how we played in our last game.

I agree.
Let's hope aTm beats uga and makes aTm ranked so we finish with 2 ranked wins

I'll take that as well. But if UGA losses to A&M they will fall like a rock and a win over them in the seccg will mean less for our chances at #1. We want UGA to keep winning.

LSU will have a three top 10 wins if they beat uga. (Teams that actually finished in the top 10). UF ,Bama and UGA. OSU will have no teams in the top 10 because psu and Mich will drop

They are good but that loss at home to SC leaves a bad taste in my mouth... and Fla. loss to Georgia and a a lucky win against Miami are of big concern. As I have said, I don't care who any one plays, as long as they win. I look at the teams and envision how they would perform against the best.

Most on here would agree PSU/Michigan are pretty close to equal as UF/Auburn

Mmmmmmnooo they’re not.

Both would lose to Florida or Auburn.

The committee seems to think they are and you have no way to prove your point at all.

Once we beat UGA we’ll be back at #1 if the move ahead of us. If the D can show it’s not a liability the next 2 games, I don’t see OSU moving ahead of us.

my opinion... It is a simple matter of the committee setting up semifinal games so that LSU and OSU could win and would set up for the championship game. They would not want a LSU vs GA or Alabama (or other SEC team) rematch in the semis.

I have posted this in 2 other threads. The resume's of BOTH LSU and Ohio State would be really, really close..... and depending upon how Ohio State wins their next 3 games vs how we win ours.... they could jump us.

Ohio State would have wins over -

10-2 Penn State
9-3 Michigan
9-3 Wisconsin
10-3 Cincinnati - they may win AAC
11-2 Minnesota or another win over 10-3 Wisconsin
7-5 Indiana
8-4 FAU - they may win Conf USA

People need to take off their P&G glasses and give some respect. That's a pretty impressive resume.

LSU's resume could look like - Wins over

11-1 Alabama
11-2 Georgia
10-2 Florida
8-4 Auburn
7-5 Texas
7-5 Texas A&M
7-5 Utah State
7-5 Ga Southern

These 2 resumes look pretty comparable to me.

Good for you, dick riding white knight.

Record vs. record doesn't mean shite, but whatever.

Team for team, (Alabama/Penn St, Georgia/Michigan, and so on) I would take each team LSU played.

For frick sake, Minnesota needed OVERTIME to beat GA SOUTHERN.

It doesn’t matter. If Oregon wins out they’re 4. Oregon AD is chair of the committee and will be LSUs biggest fan for 1 seed.

I’m not saying it will happen. But a lot of people don’t trust this guy. And I think it could.

Why are you even worried about this?

It's actually a legitimate conversation. The number one seed this year will likely have a much easier path to the national championship. The top three teams will be head and shoulders above the rest of the field.

Say UGA wins out, then loses to LSU in the SECCG. They drop out of the top 4. Who comes in? A Tua-less Bama? Oregon? Utah? These are teams most people would be much happier to play than Clemson.

In the end, it doesn't matter, win out and win it all, but it could absolutely make it easier if LSU finishes as the 1 seed.

I think the committee sees how OSU has been winning. Yes they gave up 3 TD's to Rutgers but everybody else they have dominated for the most part. A few of LSU's wins have not been that pretty where the D has not looked very good, while you look at OSU's wins, they have roasted everyone.

Now that can change for both teams if OSU starts struggling against UM and their BCCG. Likewise if LSU dominates A&M and then the D is stellar against UGA, then LSU stays 1.

I think the opposite could happen as well.

I get overall it may look close, but I think most would consider UGA and Bama 2 legit CFP contenders and UF a low TOP 10 team. If Ohio St beats Penn St soundly, looking at how they narrowly won all season, I don't see anyone seeing them as a CFP quality type win.

I don't see any on Ohio St's list that would qualify as a legit (top 4 type) opponent. Minny has done well, but look at how their games have gone. They had to convert a 4th and 29 to beat GA Southern that we beat 55-3. They also barely beat Fresno St and San Diego St.

That's not how it works. He leaves the room when the Oregon and the teams in that pod are being discussed and ranked. Him being chairman just means he is the guy that talks about how they decided the rankings to the ESPN guys. If ADs had the ability to influence the committee then explain Gene Smith from Ohio State missing out the last 2 seasons when they had an argument. Hell they put a 1 loss Ohio State behind a 2 loss UGA team in the final rankings last year.

Oh man.
You start these threads and stupid Buckeyes show up rationalizing why they deserve to be #1.
Let the next 2 weeks play out and then we will know for sure.
