Deion sanders does. I guess more opportunity to pad his son’s stats that way.

That’s why he’s a fricking awful head coach.

At home. Defensive line giving Ole Miss fits. Shorter field where it is easier for our safeties to cover. WE have an accurate field goal kicker. Two point accuracy rate less than 50%. Just made heroic drive. Absolutely go to overtime.

deferring in overtime!

Agree with OP, but come on now....this one ranks as one of the best calls my 9-year old nephew would also know to make.

Completely agree and definitely this:

Plus, LSU hasn't been good this year in short yardage situations.

And the offense hadn't been sharp on Saturday in particular. Nuss was 22/51. You don't want to lay the whole game down on one play when we had been that inefficient. Defense was playing great and you feel better having 3, maybe 4 downs to get what you need in OT.

I would have gone for 2. I know it just so happened to work out this time around, but that’s not the point.

Ole Miss was the more talented team, and I don’t think going to overtime is typically a good idea against a more talented team. You don’t play it conservative and kick the extra point just because you’re at home.

We went for 2 against Alabama in overtime 2 years ago, and it worked out just fine. It’s easy to be a Monday morning quarterback and to say kicking the extra point was right. However, all of the same people praising Kelly right now would be shitting all over him and saying he’s a conservative pussy if we would have had some bad luck in overtime and lost the game.

This take is right on the money. Coach understood the dynamics of Death Valley and his defense that night. Good situational decision making.

I was really praying he'd call to just tie it up instead of going for 2 right there. Glad he did.

Talent wasn't really that big of an advantage... They had a bunch of guys that the bought that have no real connection with each other. Once the game is on line, those guys couldn't trust each other because they didnt know each other.

In 2022 Alabama's last three possessions in regulation were: TD, TD, FG. They then scored a TD on the first possession of OT. Kelly knew Alabama had figured out LSU's defense and the odds were better Alabama would stop LSU from scoring a TD in a second OT than LSU would stop Alabama.

On Saturday Ole Miss's second half possessions were: Punt, FG, INT, punt, FG, end of regulation (after failing to get in FG range). He trusted LSU's defense to hold OM to at least a FG

Agreed. LSU had OM on the ropes late. Get them into the deep water in OT.
BK definitely played it right IMO

Agree.

Nuss was in the groove at that point, but getting 2 from that offense was not nearly as sure of a thing than with Daniels back there. Our chances were much better in OT with allowing our defense to make plays that they had been making all game and also give our offense a full set of downs to score.

It’s more about the operation as a whole. Good snap and hold there’s no way any college kicker should miss an XP.

Totally different situation. This wasn’t just 1 play to win it. There was still time on the clock. Bama was the last play of the game regardless of outcome.

Kick the XP and make OM play for OT was correct call

I think it’s really just as simple as how well our defense was playing them

If the defense we saw against S. Car had shown up Saturday I bet he would’ve gone for 2

Going for one was the only choice.

I gave BK crap early this season and now I'll come and eat crow.

Someone I think on Gameday said that BK has the edge in games like this...it's going to be tight and he just knows better than lane how to coach these situations.... and that might have been the most 100% dead on comment of the day.

I’m thankful sec called Taylor down on that drive rather then give ball back to ole miss with more time left in 4th quarter

Probably one of the biggest plays of the game TBH.
