Does anyone remember when a 4 seed won it all? Yeah Fresno State in 2008 won it all as a 4 seed. That is like a 13-16 seed in basketball winning it all, or non-power-5 team going 15-0 with LSU's schedule this year. A team with the caliber of Fresno State winning it all in basketball or football will never happen but in baseball it is possible.

Sometimes Nicholls gets their only win against LSU through 6 games.

Sometimes Eastern Kentucky gets a couple of lucky bounces on a horrible offensive night and takes down LSU.

LSU clearly has some issues to work out, but many other teams do too. BTW the national champs from 2009 also lost to Nicholls. Not saying I think we win it all this year, but baseball is crazy that way.

I watched today's game. What is to comment on? We beat a directional backwater at home. I get that baseball can be weird at times, but back to back losses to NSU and EKU (while scoring a total of one run) is unacceptable for a school like LSU. Throw in a loss to a very meh Indiana, a 3-3 record, and a fairly long run without a national title (by LSU standards) and I get people's frustrations.

In short, if you are the head coach at LSU in baseball, your seat is warm at the press conference for your hiring. CPM knew this going in. I don't think we should lower expectations. A 5-1 start with a mid-week loss to an Ace...cool. A 3-3 start and looking bad doing it deserves some criticism imho. Time will tell if we round into form. That being said, Omaha is the expectation. If we don't get there, CPM needs to have his resume ready.

Because CPM is the problem and the not part of the solution.

Talking shite about fans not complaining when we beat EASTERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY like that is some sort of accomplishment. When there is a problem, you seek a solution. CPM is not that.

And #8 ranked Auburn got swept three games by a "directional backwater" at home this weekend.

Which is better?

Lost today too. They lost the series.

I was slightly wrong on UGA. They played 4 games against SC. Won Friday easily. Struggled in the first game yesterday, and are down 4 now.

Tennessee started red hot. Wins over TT Friday and Stanford today. Florida swept Miami.

aTm losing to Army as well right now.

I am sorry. Are we not LSU, the dominanat program of college baseball?

You are comparing us to these other programs.

That would be like comparing Duke basketball against these teams basketball programs.

Central Florida in Orlando is not a regional backwater. To state that it is is moronic. In short, they are much better than Eastern Kentucky (whatever town they call home).

That being said, that should be an embarrassment for Auburn.

Lastly, Auburn baseball isn't LSU baseball.

I mean, if ULL beating Ole Miss in basketball is unlikely, ULL beating Kentucky would be much more unlikely.

To hell with low expectations and excuses.

ETA...I looked it up. EKU is located in the bustling metropolis of Richmond.

I guess you are right, Orlando isn't a pimple on the arse of Richmond. What was I thinking comparing the nation's largest university (which is located in a sizeable US city) to
EKU in Richmond.

Woodward should mulling a potential replacement for next season. He'll be one step ahead if Paul loses this team come SEC/tournament play

No. If Paul loses this team we’ll eat that shite sandwich and like it. That’s what happens when you give long term guaranteed contracts. It’s stupid to give them to CPM and it was stupid to give one to Ed Orgeron, but we did. Football can afford to buy out Les Miles for whatever it was - $18 million? Baseball cannot afford the $3 million to $4 million it would cost to buy out CPM.

Why can 500 threads be made to overreact to one bad game, yet no threads are allowed to overreact to one good game? Shouldn't it work both ways?

No one wrote that celebrating a good game is not allowed. An absence of celebratory threads does not equal proscribing them. Where the hell did you get that nonsense? Oh, BTW, I’m a posi-tiger who wasn’t the least bit concerned Friday night.

2) What coach do you want?

This is a lame retort. How can a guy who is just a fan be expected to know all the great up and coming prospects? I would have never thought of Nick Saban, but I knew Dinardo had to go. Same with Charlie Mac/Bo Rein. I also didn’t know who Will Wade was, but I knew Jones had to go.

UCF has made the NCAA tournament a grand total of ONCE in the last 8 years, in 2017, when they went 0 and 2 in a regional and went home.

They haven't won their little two-bit conference in the last 15 years.

You're probably a football fan and you're confusing their football program with their baseball program.

I guess your other mistake is pretending that Auburn is some perennial contender in baseball

Like they have expectations relative to LSU. Lmao

What teams would you recommend comparing then if not for top 10 teams?

You don’t have to compare them to anyone. Haven’t you seen enough good LSU teams to understand the standard ?

Are you going to pretend that Auburn wasn't 4-0 and ranked #8 in the country by D1 Baseball coming into this weekend?

Or, are you going to pretend Auburn didn't play in Omaha last year and they returned 7 position starters and 3 of their top pitchers this season?

Get over your hurt feelings, Momma's Boy. It's just making you look even more foolish. BTW, this is 2020, not 2019...

The standard is to get to Omaha and the teams that we are competing against to get there are in about the same boat that we are. I don't see why people are freaking out at this point in the season. Not saying you are. It's just weird.

Despite what the rant thinks, a good manager is worth wins. It may not matter now, but when the season gets condensed & you start playing against elimination, it surely does matter.

And sometimes your players are just that good that you don’t see the blemishes. But it’s easier to win a championship overcoming 2-3 bad breaks then it is overcoming 5/6 of them. Mainieri has shown warts the last few seasons in roster management, preparation/motivation, and in game management. So you’re playing against your opponent & at times getting no favors from your own coach.

This team can win with him, it will just take a little extra. New blood would be great but as I said yesterday, this program recruits too well to get to the point of termination,,

In regards to auburn, rankings don’t mean much right now. Way too early. Judging by their recent history, and getting swept by a shite team, they are more likely to miss the postseason all together then they are to be a threat at the end.

That’s why you won’t find me comparing anything to them:
