No pitcher for Torina’s incoming class?

I thought I saw where a stud pitcher was coming in but then I read this morning she signed zero pitchers in this last 7 member class

That's 24. Shes the #1 overall player, LH pitcher.

Johnson showed signs of being ready to step up late in the season. She was actually the higher rated recruit out of her and Berzon. Casanova didn’t get a lot of work, but she was also a top rated recruit. Chaffin isn’t a frontline pitcher, but she’s a decent depth piece.

They signed 3 last year and have Heavener coming in next year. It wasn’t a position of need in this class.

Strood was also a highly ranked pitcher but I don’t recall seeing her this year. Maybe she is taking a redshirt?

Yes, right, she was the third highly rated pitcher in this class. With 5 other pitchers on staff, I guess they felt a redshirt would be the best route for her. That effectively gives them a pitcher for the next class.

She has 3 Freshmen pitchers who were ranked in top 25 prospects in the nation coming out of HS in Berzon, Johnson and Strood. She has a Sophomore pitcher who was 14th ranked prospect in nation coming out of HS in Chaffin. She has top pitcher prospect for 2024 class. This team will be fine with pitching she did not need to sign one in this class.

She got 2, maybe 3 players from the portal last year. One was a catcher from Michigan that tore her ACL in the first week.

She went out last offseason and pulled in 2 players who were the intended starters at 2B and C before Hannah Carson tore her ACL. At least know the facts before spouting off.
