I know Lsu is broke, but just buy some dirt and some cardboard box-proof grass, and make some ones that kids CAN slide down. Problem solved.

Take it from Kevin. Kids playing around indian mounds is a bad idea.

From what I have heard, indian mounds were mainly a gathering area. Someone mentioned burials, but they have x-rayed the mounds and have yet to find anything.

That's an interesting article. I never knew the specifics about the mounds...

I am glad to see that the University is taking an active stance in preserving them.

So let me get this straight... Take time 2-3 times since Jesus and no change and perfectly ok.. Nothing to destroy it since then... But a handfull of kids on cardboard threaten it?

Sounds like we are being a bunch of pussies over it to me. Either PROVE that its a burial ground or not. For all we know we are protecting their dung hole.

I'm 63 years young and I slid down those mounds when I was a kid. Now all of a sudden they are being damaged? Give me a break! Just a bunch of politically correct do-gooders. Just another in a long list of reasons to stay home and watch it on TV

agreed, I'm sure this effort could be better spent on more(actual) pressing matters i.e. trash, underage drinking,QB play....etc.

as ridiculous as the sign in front of them not saying Indian Mounds, rather "hunter gatherers"
thousands of years old, more legend than fact, I am sure some hunter gatherer kids rolled down them but now 7-8 times a year kids on cardboard after all these years, are going to destroy them.
Stupid..................

Read the article before you make statements like that. Those mounds are historic and landmarks of LSU and should be protected.

I'm sure you'd be mad if a bunch of yankees played games on a confederate burial site.

In fact next time down South I'm going to do that and use your logic.

It has to be Indians. White people don't do stuff like that.

That was my attempt at "White people do this, black people do that" humor.

Putting up the barricads years ago was a good idea, IMHO. I remember when the drunken assclown ran over the girl....

But I don't really like the idea of them "closing them down" . I can still remember climbing those things as a kid- doesn't everyone?

As long as people don't abuse the priviledge and act like animals, I don't see the harm...

The Indian Mounds are not burial grounds. They were used as view points for the river. The indians would go up there to check the level of the river without actually having to go to the river.
