Those mounds need to be protected. They are an historical site. Years after I graduated from LSU, some coed was killed by a drunk driver on or near the mounds.

It has to be Indians. White people don't do stuff like that.
That was my attempt at "White people do this, black people do that" humor.

I think that it was determined some years back that the mounds were an Indian burial ground. I'm not actually sure about this but I remember reading something to that effect in the student newspaper, The Daily Revilee(sp). You need to have one of those people who study rocks (a geologist) weigh in on this issue.

I don't know about those but "indian mounds" are legit. There was some in the woods behind my house growing up. Family property and all but a crew of archeologists asked and got permission to look at them and did a dig, findng bones and artifacts.

LSU Indian Mounds
Indians may have been tailgating 5000 years ago?

When I was a kid, my dad told me that they used radiologic imaging to confirm that there were bones and tools buried in the mounds. There is a pretty good chance that he was lying to me though.

When I was in Tiger Band, we would march between the two mounds on the way to the band hall after football games.

First I'm hearing of this. Where did you hear this?

When we were kids we'd get cardboard sleds and slide down them.
Funny posts on here as to what people think they really are.

I think it's entirely appropriate to keep people off the mounds on gameday.
Our campus landmarks need to be protected.
I also believe there should be no tailgating in the Memorial Oak Grove, but no one here agrees with me on that one. Memorials are supposed to be sacred sites, but okay, whatever... beer funnel!!!
