Pretty ridiculous that the Times would pick Miss St. There is really not a single factor that would be in their favor, including quarterback play and coaching.

If you would have watched you would understand how they don't even have a quarterback advantage over us, and that is saying something.

John Bond - He would suck all year, then light it up against us Tigers. The only reason I could come up with was his "connection" was in the Btr/NO area.

There also was a place kicker for MSU about the same era from Broadmoor who would always kick the game winner against us. Can't remember his name though ........

Times Pic loves LSU when they are Top 10, but if they slip, they trash them.

This article doesnt surprise me at all.

BS! They are basically sunshine pumpers like every other paper in the state. Today there are two great articles. One is about how great the LSU defense is doing, the other is about Ridley doing much better this past weekend.

After the UNC game, James Varney, the TP beat writer assigned to LSU football, was unabashedly defending the use of the option play by LSU. Has also stated that MIles is under-appreciated and will only get the axe if they win 5 or less this year. I realize that someone else penned this article, but still find it odd that the beat writer reports all is well, and the same paper has them 7th overall in the SEC and losing their home opener to Moo State.

They have State scoring 17 on our D...Don't think so. Only way they get those points is from a Lee pick six

The T-P is very pro LSU and does a damn good job of covering the team. Don't get silly with this kind of stuff.

TP sports page sucks, and it has for a while when compared to the Advocate's in depth coverage of all the REGION'S college teams. TP sports coverage is so damn partial to just the NOLA area, it makes me sick. I grew up in NOLA, went to school in Hammond, and live in BR. I like to read both papers, but there's NO comparision with the sports coverage and DEPTH. I like Pete Finney, but that's about it. please do me a favor: Saturday morning, go pick up a TP and Advocate and compare.

+1 but I do think their LSU coverage has gotten considerably better over the past year or two. I've been reading both for several years.

FACT!

Dude, they're the only paper that covers them... The Advocate even throws that worthless (at athletics) schools name in their paper from time-to-time.

Only if you care just about reading about jr. high, high school, and LSU/Southern.

Like any real city paper, the T-P covers big events. They send one or two guys to cover nascar races, big golf tourney's, NCAA tourney basketball, etc.

You also get the feeling that a few of the T-P writers actually went to college and may have covered sports in other cities and states before.

Their writers also write pretty well and are given the ok to say something bad about the home team every now and then. Nobody is allowed to do that at the Advocate as a Manship may get them fired.
