Here we are in the postseason and all 4 of the stud freshmen (Kling, Neal, Jones, Guidry) are not in the lineup (for a variety of reasons). All 4 were expected to be in the lineup by many at some point since the fall. Just shows you how much experience matters for hitting. Unless it's Crews or Bregman, freshmen in the lineup at the end of the season isn't really a good thing.

One is out for the season, one missed time with injury which hurt his development, and one is primarily a pitcher for now who will throw in key situations in the postseason.

Yes, experience is big in the postseason but that isn’t the main reason most of those guys aren’t playing.

I said for a variety of reasons. Injuries aside though, Guidry didn't beat out Thompson or Dugas, Neal didn't outperform Travinski or Milazzo, Jones didn't outperform Beloso, and Kling didn't outperform Jobert. I just thinks it's interesting. Every year people look at recruiting rankings and try to pencil players into the lineup but it still hard to beat out the experienced guys.

Jones & Neal, combined, have started 85% of the games they’ve been available

”available” doesn’t mean much. I’d assume both have been heathy this past month. Think they just got passed up

Neal is out for the season and Jones has started multiple games ‘this month’

Wierd Rant…these guys are great players but our lineup is stacked. Most years you would see Kling and Jones as everyday players.

No he didn’t announce. But he doesn’t really talk about injuries either. Several insiders have confirmed

Your assumption is wrong.

I’m happy with our two catchers now. If Neal never got hurt I wonder if he’s still be starting with his .200 average

Probably not if he was still hitting like he was and Travinski was doing what he has. But we don’t know if he would have adapted or if he was even healthy those last few weeks leading up to his last appearance.

Interesting point. Hard to say without even knowing what his injury is.

those guys got really good experience
next year they will be key cogs in the field and lineup
will be interesting to see if guidry contends for an infield spot and/or stays on mound or maybe a little of both

What makes you think this was a rant? This was just a simple observation.

That’s not fair to them. We have studs everywhere in the lineup. Those guys are starting for 99% of teams out there. The ones that are healthy of course.

And a bad one at that.
