The candidates didn't volunteer. They applied and earned their appointments. They have to go through one of the most stringent application processes today just for the chance to attend then they have to endure Beast or Plebe Summer depending on the academy. It's not just about filling out a form and reporting there.

Also, you'd be amazed how much the military supports homeland security and national defense efforts back here. It's not just about forward projection of force. That's just what the news media decides to cover.

They won't pick a CBS game to promote if they don't have to.

Yep. Since the merger or whatever it is that they have with ABC, this has been a serious thing.

It's a 2 way sword...ESPN would get better advertising money for College Game Day if they did a remote from Tuscaloosa, but they want to promote their silly ABC games as much as possible, also.

You might be happier in another country. I'll give you a lift...a/k/a kick in the arse...to jump start the relocation.

Yeah, I think Gameday doing this is better for everyone. New blood needs to be a part of Gameday.

In the meantime, maybe Gameday will change their themesong next season.

why not wait for army/navy? that's the one with by far the most tradition.

That is now played on 12-12-09 to get better TV. They will likely be there.

good god.

these are probably the same people who complained last year when gameday was moved from the parade grounds to near walk-on's for last year's LSU-Alabama gameday because of LSU salutes.

if anyone would understand it should be LSU students, considering the MASSIVE military tradition at LSU.

WHo gives a shite about gameday? It's a shitty show with a bunch of highlights of teams I don't care about with some douches who don't know any more about football than most fans.

Well said, sir!

As long as LSU keeps winning ESPN and their traveling circus are irrelevant.

jesus christ. does it really mean that much to you idiots to have gameday show up at an AWAY game? some of you are acting like yall just walked in on lee corso frickin your wife. worry about something that matters and let the service academys have a day in the spot light.

Why are you calling me an idiot?

I could care less about gameday either way and I have no problem with them honoring the service academies. And I honor and respect the sacrifices of our service men and women.

Think before you click reply, grasshopper.

Corso probably just watched Deliverance one to many times and is kind of leery about going to Bama.

it is ok with me, Corso is hard to watch these days, herbie even looks uncomfortable working with Lee, the poor guy is sick, of course its not his fault, and i feel sorry for him. just saying its hard for me to watch cause im afraid he might fall out during the broadcast

Good for ESPN finally they do something right!!! If the complaining hippies don't understand why they would do this please talk to a Veteran. What difference does it make in the world where ESPN College Gameday televises from? At least they are honoring these great young men that have not only volunteered to serve this country after the football season is complete but also entertain you on Saturday's. Don't be a douchebag!

I can't believe, a common sense post! Thanks for a post that most of the idiots on here will never understand.

Just some food for thought. What if USC was playing say Boise St. On that same Saturday? Would gameday still go to the service academy game?

Let me tell all you winey aholes on here something! Your life is TOTAL FAIL, if all you have to do is Gripe about a Damn College Football show and its location!! I think it is great that they are honoring our servicemen!!

Please remember this before you open your mouth and degrade any U.S. Armed Force or serviceman. They are the damn reason you are being able to complain about them in the first place!!!
