Good for ESPN finally they do something right!!! If the complaining hippies don't understand why they would do this please talk to a Veteran. What difference does it make in the world where ESPN College Gameday televises from? At least they are honoring these great young men that have not only volunteered to serve this country after the football season is complete but also entertain you on Saturday's. Don't be a douchebag!

Also, LSU fans wanting Gameday so bad makes us look like a fan base who very recently got good. Gameday at Vandy? That's totally different. If was a vandy fan/student I would have been super excited when they were there last year. How many times can an old dude with a big mascot head on excite you people?

well said. CBS has the LSU/Bama game, no reason for ESPN to go

college gameday is about college football. its about sports.
if i want to watch veterans day programming ill watch something else.
espn is trying too hard to out think the room.

ESPN hates the SEC
That's why they spent a gazillion dollars to get everything SEC that CBS doesn't have.
This is a Disney/ABC call. I guarantee it. I think it's a bad call because it trivializes what College Gameday had become.
The only flip side is whether there's a national backlash about the SEC getting so much attention. The SEC matchups week-in, week-out mean that Gameday would spend most weekends in the South.

How by broadcasting from there?
Here's a little perspective. I taught at USAFA for three years. The cadets are up every morning before 6 (how many of you did that as an undergrad?) After breakfast, they have class pretty much all day, except for a mandatory noon meal formation when they have to march to lunch, even if it's 20 degrees out. After class they have mandatory intramurals, then dinner and four hours of mandatory study hall before lights out. Every other weekend (except for freshmen) they might even get to leave campus. In return for putting up with all this for four years, they get a job that separates them from their families for months at a time working half-way around the world in either 120-degree heat or freezing cold, surrounded by people who would rather see them dead.
One morning, in their whole four years, (Gameday hasn't been there since '03, and who knows when they'll be back) they get to wake up, walk outside their dorms, and act like idiots in front of the GameDay set.
It's a small consolation.

I'm fine with College Gameday going to that game, but remember that they volunteered to do all that...no one held a gun to their head forcing them to enroll...

But if they didn't, someone might be holding a gun to your head making you do it.

Going to one of the service academies is not a prerequisite for military enlistment.

All true. But also remember, it's their choice to do that.

Well, I just hope that they each get the koozie that will be given away on "Game Day" by AAFMAA.com at the game that day!

The whole it is a CBS game that is why espn isn't coming make no sense. They came to LSU for the Florida game and it was a CBS game.

who cares, last time the game was IN baton rouge and they talked about LSU for maybe a combined 3 minutes, so if it were in tuscaloosa why would it be any different
Posted on 10/29/09 at 11:08 pm to thejudge
wow........that sucks! I understand they want to show some respect and I respect them for that but it isn't how it used to be. This game deserves to have gameday there.

Dude, its for veterans day! The armed forces that protect the freedoms you take for granted! Have some respect! I'm upset as well but one of the few people I would let it slide for is the armed forces. And if ESPN hated the SEC they wouldn't have gotten the contract they have
When is the last time the US Armed Forces protected our freedoms? World War II? The War of 1812?
I'm so tired of this idiotic faux-patriotic line.

Cry me a river. They have their pick of 6-figure jobs waiting for them as soon as their service is over. They volunteered to go to service academies.
